State of Idaho Opportunity Operations Director, State Public Defender's Office
Full-time (40 hours) - $100,000-120,000 annually D.O.E.
The Idaho State Public Defender (SPD) is a newly created state agency which provides trial representation to indigent criminal defendants pursuant to Idaho Code § 19-5905. The SPD is responsible for all indigent defense cases throughout the State of Idaho, including both juveniles and adults. We are looking for an innovative collaborative person who is driven by a commitment to public defense to help guide the development of a new agency.

POSITION & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Operations Director is part of the management team and oversees the day-to-day administrative and operational functions of the SPD, a new state agency with an overall mission of serving indigent clients and improving the quality of public defense across the state . We are seeking candidates who can implement SPD strategies into daily operations including finance, human resources, agency development, client service, compliance, information technology, facilities, and operational system functions.
This is a newly created non-classified position that reports to the State Public Defender or his designee.

+ E xperience in operations management, preferably in a leadership role
+ Strong background in strategic planning, development, and change management
+ Ability to drive process improvement initiatives and achieve operational excellence
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
+ Demonstrated high level of professionalism and excellent communication skills
+ Ability to adapt to change as necessary and thrive in a developing agency
+ Ability to handle confidential, proprietary and sensitive information requiring judgment and discretion
+ Ability to cultivate relationships and collaborate
Example of Duties
+ Partner collaboratively with the SPD and the management team to ensure a strategically clear and coherent organizational plan, collectively managing its implementation.
+ Manage the day-to-day operations of the agency and its implementation of policies and procedures.
+ Implement systems and processes to support staff needs, provide excellent client services and meet the SPD's mission and vision of providing zealous holistic representation.
+ Supervise the operations team in data research, budget and finance and case management system.
+ In collaboration with the operations team, use operational reporting systems to deliver accurate and timely reports to the management team.
+ Identify operational gaps and areas of improvement, implementing strategies to enhance agency effectiveness.
+ Work with the SPD management team and the operations team to develop and manage the long-term operational strategies.
+ Lead change management efforts on agency-wide operations initiatives and projects.
+ Guide the annual budget-setting process for the organization in consultation with the SPD, ensuring appropriate allocations.
+ Traveling throughout the state to supervise and oversee statewide operations.
+ Working both in and out of the SPD office as required.
+ Being on-call during evenings and weekends to handle emergency issues when they arise.
Minimum Qualifications
+ Five (5) years of experience directly related to the job responsibilities reflected above.
+ Experience working with government agencies, non-profits or business organizations.
