Who will you be working with?
Wabtec employees at the Germantown location operate in a team environment in the digital electronic and component field of creating productive and reliable transportation. Our Wabtec Germantown facility includes highly sophisticated production processes that integrate advanced manufacturing technologies with precision assembly techniques. Team members collaborate across engineering, production, and quality assurance functions to deliver innovative products that meet the evolving demands on the transportation industry.
How will you make a difference?
As the Operations and Planning Manager, you are a dynamic manufacturing leader responsible for overseeing daily operations, such as operational planning, inventory management, optimizing production processes, and managing a team of production personnel. This role requires comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing best practices, lean methodologies, supply chain management, and advanced planning systems. This position requires strong leadership skills to drive operational efficiency, manage cross functional teams, and implement strategic improvements that enhance operational efficiency. This position requires working on-site as an essential function.
What do we want to know about you?
Preferred bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
5-8 years of experience in inventory management, shop operations, facilitation and production control in a manufacturing environment, production planning, quality control, inventory management principles and practices, or materials management disciplines
Strong team leadership, team building, interpersonal skills, and leadership capabilities with demonstrated team management experience.
Proficiency with production planning, inventory control systems, implementing and maintaining quality control standards.
Analytical skills for interpreting production metrics and implementing improvements.
A track record of meeting production targets and deadlines.
Computer literacy including manufacturing software applications.
Working knowledge of safety regulations and compliance requirements.
What will your typical day look like?
Have accountability and team leadership in fulfillment, material strategy, process and execution for all material operations and distribution.
Lead the strategy and execution of the materials organization in planning, scheduling, inventory, warehousing, distribution, and production.
Lead the Fulfillment Team in all material delivery and supply needs. In this role you will drive to improve supplier OTD%, Material Availability by reducing Overdue and Late POs, and be responsible for overall PO management.
Delivering production on schedule, to meet both internal and external customer demand.
Ability to effectively manage changing and conflicting priorities and resolve appropriately.
Pro-actively look at future demand and identify potential issues and work to resolve prior to business need.
Managing the operation to meet business financial plans.
Strong oral and written communication skills, capable presenter with demonstrated leadership experience.
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
Strong objective analysis and decision-making skills.
Clear thinking/problem solving successfully led cross functional projects/process improvement, strong analytical skills.
Oracle ERP Proficient.
High level of proficiency with all Microsoft Office applications, i.e. Excel, PPT, Word, creating pivot tables, VLookups etc.).

Employee will normally work in a temperature-controlled office environment, with infrequent exposure to electric tools, occasional loud noises and possible exposure to fumes while on the production floor.

The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location.
