What You’ll Be Doing

CIBC’s Fusion Centre is responsible for protecting our clients and our bank by holistically combatting financial crime threats which cross the Corporate Security, Information Security and Fraud domains. The integration and analysis of cross-pillar intelligence and data combined with unified collaboration among key stakeholders enables the Fusion Centre to develop a more accurate picture of threats and coordinate protective actions to mitigate threats, reduce losses and better enable our client’s ambitions to become a reality. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Fusion Intelligence, the Operational Analyst, Fusion Intelligence is responsible for conducting intelligence activities that directly support the Fusion Centre’s operational mandate. This includes the technical collection, aggregation, and analysis of diverse internal and external data sources, and the production of actionable intelligence outputs. The Operational Analyst provides a comprehensive view of security-related threats to support decision-making, enhance situational awareness, and drive operational readiness across the organization. This position will require flexibility in managing priorities to meet the demands and the overall objectives of the Fusion Centre. You will be required to effectively manage complex issues, as well as sometimes-fluid deadlines and priorities. This position will operate within a normal office environment; however, it will on occasion require working outside normal office days/hours, including rotational on-call and after hours / weekends duties.

How You’ll Succeed

Technical Intelligence Collection & Analysis: Leverage technical tools and platforms (e.g., SIEM, threat intelligence platforms, data analytics tools) to collect, validate, and analyze threat data. Apply operational and technical expertise to identify patterns, anomalies, and emerging threats.Relationship Building: Provide support to Fusion Centre Management, team members and peers as required; Collaborate with key stakeholders across pillars as part of a coordinated intelligence cycle, applying intelligence best practices and appropriate collection and analysis techniques. Occasional contact with external peers in the industry.Operational Investigations: Conduct in-depth, technically informed analysis to address intelligence requirements and close information gaps. Document findings in concise, operationally focused intelligence products tailored to consumer needs. Support complex investigations as a technical subject matter expert in banking systems, security controls, and operational processes.Risk Management:  Evaluate the quality, relevance, and validity of technical and non-technical information related to threats facing CIBC. Identify and escalate risks, and contribute to incident management and response activities, leveraging technical skills to support rapid resolution.

Who You Are

You can demonstrate experience in information security/cybersecurity, fraud or physical security (typically 3-5 years) or industry related experience and possess a university degree or college diploma. Practical knowledge of intelligence collection and analysis practices and CIBC’s internal policies, procedures and practices; Strong knowledge of CIBC Group of Companies and the ability to assess, measure and monitor risk within CIBC guidelines, and developed working knowledge of database principles and applications, Microsoft Office Software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) sufficient to create sophisticated graphs, charts and reports.  You can demonstrate experience with security technologies (e.g. threat intelligence platforms), data analysis tools (e.g., Python, SQL, Excel), and operational processes. Familiarity with common threat vectors, attack techniques, and security frameworks relevant to the financial sector.You can demonstrate developed interactive skills sufficient to convey factual and conceptual information in circumstances requiring detailed interpretation; exceptional problem solving skills to creatively develop unique approaches and solutions that are necessary to address complex problems; Self-planning skills sufficient to schedule, organize and carry out work assignments according to established work plans, independently adjusting work schedules according to changing priorities; Ability to gather, synthesize, organize and interpret data or information and formulate appropriate conclusions and insights;You put our clients first.
