Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) – Amergis
The OR RN is a highly skilled and detail-oriented nursing professional responsible for delivering safe and effective care to patients undergoing surgical procedures. This role requires strong clinical judgment, precision, and the ability to work collaboratively in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment. The RN works closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, surgical techs, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes before, during, and after surgery.
Key Responsibilities
+ Apply the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate perioperative care.
+ Prepare patients for surgery, including preoperative assessments and education.
+ Assist in surgical procedures by maintaining sterile technique and anticipating surgical team needs.
+ Monitor patient status intraoperatively, including vital signs and anesthesia response.
+ Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
+ Document patient care accurately in the electronic health record (EHR).
+ Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure patient safety and procedural efficiency.
+ Provide postoperative care and education to patients and families.
+ Maintain adherence to infection control, safety, and quality standards.
+ Respond promptly to emergencies and unexpected changes in patient condition.
+ Advocate for patients while upholding confidentiality and patient rights.
Minimum Requirements
+ Active RN license in the state of practice.
+ At least one year of professional nursing experience (OR experience preferred).
+ Completion of Amergis’ Competency Program (if applicable).
+ Current BLS certification (ACLS preferred).
+ Knowledge of surgical procedures, sterile technique, and OR protocols.
+ TB screening and health clearance (as required).
+ Compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
+ Successful completion of new hire orientation and OR training.
+ Understanding of HIPAA and patient confidentiality.
+ Strong communication skills and proficiency in English.
+ Basic computer literacy.
+ Must be at least 18 years of age.
