Operating Engineer – JLL

What this job involves: The Operating Engineer plays a critical role in maintaining JLL's facility operations through expert technical knowledge and hands-on equipment management. This position focuses on operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing facility equipment across all building systems, ensuring optimal performance and safety standards. As an Operating Engineer, you will demonstrate technical expertise in one specialized craft area while maintaining multi-skilled capabilities across electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and central utility plant operations. Your work directly contributes to JLL's commitment to delivering exceptional facility management services and maintaining world-class operational standards for our clients.

What your day-to-day will look like:

Perform maintenance, monitoring, and repairs to Mechanical, Plumbing, Structural, Furniture, Fire, Life Safety, and Control systemsMaintain facility services through preventative maintenance programs, purchasing, and inventory control managementClean, inspect, calibrate, and replace parts on HVAC systems and associated equipment to ensure optimum performance levelsRecord equipment readings and make necessary adjustments to ensure proper operationReview monthly client service request summaries to identify and correct recurrent operational problemsEvaluate vendors and suppliers regularly for quality and competitive pricingMonitor maintenance work performed by outside contractors for quality and pricing compliance

Required Qualifications:

Technical expertise in at least one craft area (Electrical, HVAC, Piping/Plumbing, or Central Utility Plant Operations)Multi-skilled capabilities across various building systems and equipmentKnowledge of safety protocols for hazardous materials storage, usage, and disposalExperience with preventative maintenance programs and proceduresAbility to troubleshoot and repair complex facility equipmentStrong understanding of building codes and operational standardsPhysical ability to perform hands-on maintenance and repair work

Preferred Qualifications:

Additional certifications in multiple craft areas beyond primary expertiseExperience with inventory control and purchasing processesVendor management and contractor oversight experienceKnowledge of facility management software and reporting systemsExperience in commercial or industrial facility operations
