Overview History of the Company: Superior Ambulance Service started in 1959 with one ambulance and today is the largest independent, locally owned, and operated emergency medical services provider in the Midwest. Superior employs more than 3,500 licensed EMTs, Paramedics and Nurses, operating a fleet of more than 800 ambulances throughout Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, and Wisconsin. Superior also provides Critical Care, helicopter, and fixed wing emergency medical transportation. The On-Site Coordinator acts as a liaison between Superior Air-Ground Ambulance and the Hospital, communicating and continuing to develop to the ever changing transport needs of the hospital. The On-Site Coordinator also works as support staff for the transfer center, discharge planners and social workers to assist in arranging and expediting transports coming into and leaving the hospital. View/arrange asap or pre-scheduled calls and assist in making sure that proper paperwork is filled out correctly. Responsibilities + Answer and arrange transportation both emergent and non-emergent, including determining level of care required + View pre-scheduled calls, make necessary adjustments with hospital staff and dispatch + Prioritize transports to fulfill the hospital needs including specialty and critical care transports as well as flight requests + Provide accurate and appropriate ETA’s (Estimated time of arrival) + Make rounds on the floors + Attend hospital huddles + Assist in organizing patient belongings and patient paperwork for transport + Assist in making sure crews are arriving to the patients in a timely manner + Assist Superior Ambulance billing department with PCS/insurance requests + Provide information and assistance regarding billing procedures + Establish relationships with hospital staff + Develop effective solutions for customer service issues + Effective communications, both written and verbal + Possess critical thinking skills + Other duties as assigned Qualifications + Pleasant, professional phone manner + Detail oriented + Typing skills of 30 wpm or better + Ability to excel in high-stress environment + Adapt to frequently changing policies + Ability to learn policies and procedures for facilities and recognizing when to apply them. + Medical background a plus + EMD certification will be required within 1 year of employment Check out our career site benefits page to learn about our comprehensive benefits options that include medical, vision, dental, 401k, disability, FSA, HSA, vacation and paid time off here: Benefits Page.
