2 shifts will be in Oncology Infusion and 2 shifts will be in BMT Oncology Infusion
The Oncology Nurse Float provides professional nursing care through assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation.Responsibilities and Essential Job FunctionsDemonstrates competence in the areas of critical thinking, interpersonal relationships, and technical skills. Demonstrates ability to provide care/service safely and efficiently for the care of each patient. Assesses and interprets the patient status utilizing physical assessment, laboratory and diagnostic procedure results, and the patient interview. Uses this information to provide patient care utilizing the nursing process. Demonstrates knowledge and skill in all aspects of IV therapy, i.e., hydration, chemotherapy, biotherapy, and blood products. Manages patient care based on knowledge of cancer, cancer treatment, and side effects of such treatment. Provides education to the patient and family regarding disease and treatment plan. Contributes to the orientation, education, and evaluation of new staff and the community. Consults with members of the interdisciplinary team regarding pertinent patient issues and collaborates with research staff regarding ongoing studies. Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department. Required Education and ExperienceHigh School Graduate Associate Degree Nursing (or higher degree)
Preferred Education and ExperienceBachelor Degree Nursing in Nursing Must complete BSN within 5 years of hire as RN 1 or more years med surg/acute care 1 or more years oncology experience
Required Licensure and CertificationBasic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) - American Heart Association (AHA) Licensed Registered Nurse (LRN) - Multi-State - State Board of Nursing Registered Nurse license required for state the clinic is located in, at the time of hire (Kansas or Missouri). Must obtain additional State license, to possess both Kansas and Missouri licensing within 6 months of hire Must have current active multistate state Register Nurse (RN) license in good standing in state in which you live OR active single state RN license in good standing in the state you will be working with proof of application of a multistate RN license in the state in which you live. Staff hired prior to 2/1/2024 are required to obtain a multistate state RN license from the state in which they live at the time of their next RN license renewal by 3/31/2026.
