Oncology/Hematology Physician Opportunity in Southwest Georgia

Patient Volumes: 

~2,000 new patients per year  Minimum of 18-20 patients/day  Have on-call physician each day (our physicians like to round on their own patients but that is not required)  High volume physicians have 2 medical assistants (one triages and one schedules)  Mon – Fri, 8a to 5p, physicians rotate call  3 day packages, 4 day packages, 5 day packages  Maybe a position that covers weekend call (7 physicians rotate w/end call), 1 week day call (weekend call = one day off during the week)  Hospitalists really have helped with this; 0-7 calls  Infusion room – 60-65 patients  Primary infusion room -   All nurses are chemo certified; 12 nurses are oncology certified  APP in infusion role too – liaison between chemo nurse and physician  6 chairs – Room 2  EMR – Cancer centers uses Mosiac / Hospital uses Meditech  Symptom management clinic – runs like an urgent care for patients with APP  2 Radiation Oncologists, 2 linear accelerators, tomography unit  Palliative care navigator, one physician boarded in palliative care, inpatient palliative care support  Have genetics nurse – many come through our breast center  Director, 2 nurses, + physician champion for clinical research  2 data research coordinators + genetics nurse  If physician wants to keep their skills up, can do some procedures  Every Wednesday at 6:30a, chest conference – pathology, rad onc, med onc, radiology, navigators  Thursday morning, 6:45a, solid tumor conference followed by breast conference -  includes surg. Oncologists / general surgeons  70:30 or 60:40 Oncology to Hematology patient split Population of Albany, GA: ~70,000  Patient Catchment Area: Primary: 500,000; Tertiary: 800,000
