The Finance and Risk Practice, part of our Financial Services Group, is seeking Engagement Managers to support and contribute to our continued business growth. Oliver Wyman’s Finance and Risk practice is the leading strategic risk management consultancy, engaged to solve the most challenging problems at the largest and most complex global financial institutions.

The Finance and Risk Practice advises clients in the financial services sector to adapt their risk management strategies to continuously evolving market dynamics, emerging risks, and rising regulatory expectations. Our projects focus on issues at the top of the C-suite (in particular the CFO and CRO) and Board agendas and span a wide spectrum of disciplines. Our recent projects have covered topics including:

Risk-appetite designPricing and performance measurement strategiesFinance, Risk and Treasury governance and organizational designStrategic financial resource management initiatives (e.g. balance sheet management, RWA optimization)Analytical modeling of financial and non-financial risks, portfolio/instrument level valuation models and strategic planning and forecasting modelsClimate and sustainability risk framework design and scenario analysisFinancial crime and compliance framework and organizational design, analytics, and process enhancementNon-financial risk measurement and management, including third party risk management, fraud, and cyber riskStress Testing and capital planningAsset / liability, interest rate risk, and liquidity risk management

Role

Engagement Managers are critical leaders within our consulting team, working side-by-side with our clients.  The position offers excellent career and growth opportunities for talented, highly motivated professionals with relevant prior experience. Initial responsibilities typically include:

Leading teams of consultants on a wide range of Finance and Risk-related topics. This typically includes developing hypotheses; managing data collection, model creation and analyses; conducting primary and secondary research; creatively tackling information limitations; and surfacing insightsSynthesizing findings into written presentations; reviewing and discussing with clients and other stakeholdersOverseeing and guiding the consulting team as they develop hypotheses, review client information and conduct client interviews, derive insights, and produce deliverablesSupporting Partners in project execution through excellent project management, including work planning, workflow management, and coaching / developing more junior team membersManaging client relationships and networks, presenting to senior audiences, and working day-to-day with senior and mid-level clientsEffectively communicating issues and solutions in formal and informal settings, through written and verbal communication

Desired Skills and Experience

Just as every client project is different, so we recognize and value the diversity of backgrounds and skill sets for successful Engagement Manager candidates.  We are seeking high-caliber individuals who want to join our winning team.  Preference will be given to candidates with:

6-10 years of relevant consulting and/or industry experience, either at a top-tier consulting firm or a financial services institutionAt least 4 years with specific in-depth experience in Finance and Risk related topics with a focus in Mexico (additional Spanish-speaking LatAm countries experience encouraged but not necessary)Track record of leading and managing teams, and delivering results in fast-paced, demanding environmentsStrong background in strategic problem solving with demonstrable analytical skillsOutstanding written and verbal communication skills both in Spanish and EnglishUndergraduate or advanced degree from a top academic programWillingness to travel (Travel can be expected to US, especially New York) and work with multi-cultural teams Location: Mexico City office
