Position Description 

 

Kibali Gold Mine is seeking to recruit an Officer – Environmental Lab and field operations to join and grow our team.

Responsibilities: 

Supervise laboratory activities and field technicians in daily operations.

Coordinate scheduling of environmental laboratory tests, field sampling, and data collection.

Ensure proper use, calibration, and maintenance of laboratory and field equipment.

Implement and monitor quality control procedures for laboratory and field work.

Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Maintain accurate records, logs, and documentation for audits and reporting.

Provide guidance on laboratory methodologies, field sampling techniques, and data analysis.

Troubleshoot technical issues in both laboratory and field settings.

Train and mentor staff on best practices and new technologies.

Plan and allocate resources for laboratory and field projects.

Monitor consumables and inventory of supplies.

Field inspections in line with ISO14001 standards in order to identify any potential gaps within the system

Prepare technical reports, summaries, and presentations for management and clients.

Close monitoring of functionality of water treatment plants and sewage treatment plants on site – and follow up to compliance

Ensure timely submission of results and findings.

Qualification Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Environmental Science, Biology, Engineering, or related field (master’s preferred).

Experience and Skills Requirements: 

3+ years of experience in laboratory and/or field operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.

Strong knowledge of laboratory testing methods, field sampling protocols, and safety standards.

Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Proficiency in data management systems and laboratory information management software (LIMS).

Ability to work in diverse environments, including field sites and laboratory settings.
