The New Porgera Limited now has a vacancy for a qualified and experienced individual to join our Community Social and Responsibility (CSR) Department as an Officer- Senior, Community Land Access Agreements.
About the role
Reporting to the Superintendent- Community Land Access Agreement, the officer, Senior, Community Access Agreement leads the planning negotiation and implementation of land access agreements with landowners, community groups and relevant stakeholders within the mine impacted areas. This role ensures that agreements are culturally respectful, legally compliant and aligned with organisational objectives while maintaining strong relationships, minimising conflict, and supporting sustainable project delivery.
In this role, you will:
Effectively apply relevant PNG Land related legislations relating to land grievances
Apply Community Relations and Land Management Standard Operating Procedures in engagements with the community
Demonstrate culturally appropriate communications to translate ideas from one culture to another
Regularly update Land Management System and maintain accurate and historical data
Investigate land related grievances, assess and make recommendations to management
Develop and maintain a high level of health and safety awareness for the construction contractors and their teams ensuring all work is carried out safely and complying with all government and mining regulations
Maintain a high level of health and safety awareness and comply with the PJV Occupational Health & Safety Policy and all health and safety rules and procedures.
Degree in Land Administration or Land Studies
Significant field experience in customary and alienated land administration
Knowledgeable in relevant Mining Acts/Legislation, map reading, surveys and basic geotechnical principles
About You
To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experiences:
Degree in Land Administration or Land Studies
Experience in mining, infrastructure, renewable energy, agriculture or government land access administration processes in the Highlands of PNG
Experience with GIS or land management software
Strong knowledge of relevant legislation (e.g., land management, native title, cultural heritage, property rights).
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
Strength of character to make tough decisions and hold to them despite criticism
High-level organisational and project management skills.
Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
Ability to communicate and interact at all levels both inside and outside the operational areas
Work Environment & Conditions
• Combination of office-based and field-based work.
• Regular travel to community meetings and stakeholder sites.
• Participation in after-hours or weekend engagements as required.
