Coordinates all activities and functions and provides leadership within the Surgical Services Scheduling office/ Prep/Endo/Pain Clinic.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Maintains good rapport and cooperative relationships. Approaches conflict in a constructive manner. Helps to identify problems, offer solutions, and participates in their resolution.
Maintains the confidentiality of information acquired pertaining to patient, physicians, employees, and visitors to St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea/Saint Joseph Mercy Health System. Discusses patient and hospital information only among appropriate personnel in appropriately private places.
Maintains knowledge to perform the duties of the job. Assumes responsibility for performance of job duties in the safest possible manner, to assure personal safety and that of coworkers, and to report all preventable hazards and unsafe practices immediately to management.
Provides quality patient care by considering the age specific, development and cultural needs through competent clinical practice. Demonstrates unit/area competencies.
Identifies and assists in resolution of problems related to safety, sanitation and maintenance of the environment.
Promotes a positive work environment by demonstrating teamwork.
Coordinates the daily activities and functions of the Surgical Services scheduling office, Surgery Prep, or Endo/Pain Clinic.
Schedules procedures through direct contact with the physician’s offices, physicians, inpatient units and the Emergency department as applicable.
Enters post op data into the computer system as applicable.
Establishes, maintains and revises filing systems and statistical information. Orders necessary supplies to facilitate office functions.
Performs a variety of secretarial duties.
Receives and screens telephone calls for Department and/or routes calls appropriately.
Collaborates with physicians, physician's offices, hospital staff and Surgical Services leadership.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Minimum high school diploma with two years of business, general office and medical terminology classes.
Typing minimum 55 wpm and computer skills are required.
Previous surgery scheduling, prep or endo/pain facilitation and leadership experience required.
