**Job Description**
This position exists to provide administrative support to Allied Health & Nursing Advising Center. Responsibilities include providing administrative and clerical support for two student advising directors, and academic advisors, as part of the University Advising team at large. Operating within the division of Student Success & Engagement, the position provides support to broader university advising and student success goals. The position requires independent judgment with limited procedural control and thorough knowledge of departmental and university procedures and policies. The Advising Assistant plays an instrumental role in creating and maintaining a student-centered environment for visitors to the Allied Health & Nursing Advising Center. This position is Full Time, Seasonal – working full time hours during the academic year with summers off. This position does not offer a regular telework schedule, only case by case/situational telework up to 10% of the time.
**Minimum Qualifications**
+ Knowledge of communication sufficient to perform the job duties described above, using reading, writing, and speaking skills. Communicate effectively with internal and external customers. Follow detailed instructions and explain complex processes to customers. Fluently speak, read, understand, and respond to a variety of written and spoken communications, such as questions, purchase orders, inventory records, and distribution lists.
+ Skill in using grammar, spelling, and punctuation to write and edit reports, letters, and other documents.
+ Skills in customer service to answer phones, refer callers, and greet students/guests/campus members with courtesy and respect. Provide prompt, courteous, and accurate information to customers in person, on the phone and through email and other written correspondence. Convey complicated information in an understandable manner. Provide guidance and handle difficult situations. When possible, de-escalate complicated situations, managing concerns tactfully and thoroughly.
+ Knowledge of standard computer software programs for word processing, spreadsheets, and databases to sufficiently create, modify, and protect them.
+ Demonstrated ability to use word processing software, such as Microsoft Word, spreadsheet, and other software application to prepare reports, emails, financial statements, letters. Prepare documents and emails that are grammatical correct and in proper formats.
+ Use spreadsheet software, such as Microsoft Excel, to enter, compile, store and retrieve data in reports.
+ Math skills sufficient to maintain complete and accurate financial records, balance, and resolve discrepancies.
+ Ability to perform financial tasks for the department’s expense and budget administration. This includes the ability to reviewing financial records, reconciling purchasing cards, monitoring and balancing budgets, and complete procedures specific to the various guidelines, and priorities of the department.

+ Ability to input data quickly and accurately, such as budget records and reports. Check inputs and output for completeness, accuracy, and discrepancies.
+ Use keyboarding and typing to sufficiently produce documents, emails, and other form of communication in an accurate and efficient manner.
+ Experience providing supervisory and lead worker skills to student staff, including planning, coordinating, and directing office support activities, coverage, projects, and workflow (as needed).

Work safely at all times, which includes but is not limited to, participating and completing all required safety trainings, as well as performing all job tasks in accordance with Minnesota State University, Mankato policies and procedures utilizing appropriate tools, equipment and personal protective equipment.
