Ocean Export Freight Manager III
**Job Summary** Analyzes complex financial, statistical, and competitor price data and recommends price changes to improve profitability. **WM** is a dynamic leader in Recycling, committed to delivering products efficiently and reliably. We are seeking a skilled Freight Manager / Negotiator to optimize our shipping operations and negotiate strategic carrier contracts. **Essential Duties and Responsibilities** To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned. + Negotiate freight rates, contracts, and service terms with carriers and 3PL partners. + Manage inbound/outbound freight, including truckload (TL), less-than-truckload (LTL), intermodal, and air/ocean shipments. + Analyze shipping data to identify cost-saving opportunities and optimize routes. + Monitor carrier performance, compliance, and on-time delivery metrics. + Collaborate with export sales managers , suppliers, MRFS , logistics and documentation teams to ensure smooth operations. + Prepare freight reports, forecasts, and budgets for management. + Travel to visit HQ of shipping lines and conduct QBR. **Supervisory Responsibilities** This job has no supervisory duties, but may occasionally act as a team lead. **Qualifications** The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job. A. Education and Experience + Education: Bachelor's Degree (accredited) in Business Administration, or in lieu of degree, High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and 4 years of relevant work experience. + Experience: 5 years of relevant work experience (in addition to education requirement). B. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements + None required. C. Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required + Proven experience negotiating freight rates and contracts. + Strong knowledge of transportation and logistics ( intermodal and ocean). + Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. + Proficient in TMS, Excel, and freight tracking software. + Strong verbal and written communication skills, including knowledge of contract law and commercial terms ( e.g. Incoterms in shipping) + Ability to manage multiple priorities, with strong interpersonal cultural and stakeholder management skills. + Bachelor degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, International Trade, Business Administration, or related field. + Minimum 5-7 years experience in freight/transportation management. **Preferred:** + Background in high-volume freight operations (import export in sea containers) + Certifications: Certified Transportation Broker (CTB), Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), Lean Sigma are a plus + MBA with focus on negotiation strategy supply chain or operations. The expected base pay range for this position across the U.S. is $92,430 - $112,970. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position.
