Job Title: Ocean Export Agent
Job Description
In this role, you will ensure the timely and accurate movement of freight and information, while delivering exceptional customer service within the Ocean Export Department. You will exclusively work with a major client handling over 20,000 shipments annually.
Responsibilities
+ Approve shipments for delivery to destination.
+ Manage and handle cargo once it sails from the appropriate port.
+ Enter and manage extensive documentation for each assigned shipment.
+ Ensure compliance with country-specific policies and guidelines.
+ Perform extensive data entry related to shipments, departures, arrivals, cargo, and deliveries.
+ Utilize Excel to receive and track daily workloads and shipments.
+ Maintain minimal phone interactions, approximately five calls per week.
+ Ensure smooth and timely freight process flow.
+ Ensure accurate and timely data entry into the operational system.
+ Track and trace Ocean Export files and generate reports.
+ Use the Global Ocean Export Monitor daily.
+ Ensure timely dispatch of documents and communication of shipping notices to overseas and customers.
+ Ensure accurate and timely client and vendor billing.
+ Coordinate international shipments while meeting customer service standards.
+ Foster positive relationships with suppliers, including ocean carriers and trucking companies.
+ Adhere to compliance regulations, both internal and external, in accordance with government regulations.
+ Understand department process flow and seek best practices for improving operational efficiency and productivity.
+ Maintain and update customer standard operating procedures (SOP).
+ Meet Key Performance Indicator (KPI) standards in line with company procedures.
+ Facilitate overseas communications with timely responses to emails and requests.
+ Escalate issues to management as necessary.
+ Promote adherence to company policies and regulations with integrity and pride.
+ Complete 52 hours of training per year and attend mandatory training sessions.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in computer operations, especially typing with a minimum speed of 35+ words per minute.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel.
+ Effective interpersonal skills for clear and concise communication.
+ Strong organizational skills and proactivity.
+ Bachelor's degree or veteran status (highly preferred).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Knowledge of Expeditors’ products and services.
+ Understanding of ocean documentation processes (a plus).
+ Hazardous Materials certification (preferred).
+ Fluency in English.
Work Environment
This is a professional office environment with open cubicles accommodating over 200 employees. The dress code requires business professional attire, with specific guidelines for men and women. The typical work hours are 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday. Employees are offered 26 work-from-home days per year, to be determined by the manager. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.
