Bachelor's/Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy

Preferred:

1-3 years experience in clinical practice

Certifications and Licenses Required:

Licensed or eligible for Occupational Therapist licensure in New Jersey. Must have NJ license upon hire but will interview license eligible

Essential Functions:

Arranges Daily Schedule as neededTakes patients at scheduled timeExhibits flexibility in dealing with daily scheduling issues (ie: patient late)Works well with front desk staff in the scheduling of patientsMakes multiple attempts to see patients when conflicts arisePerforms evaluations in a timely manner and consistent with department policyTreatment plan reflects the needs of patients identified in the evaluationProvides treatment that includes but is not limited to: - Therapeutic Exercises, ADL Training (transfers, dressing), Patient and Family Education, Other duties within the legal scope of practicePrioritizes patient needs according to department policy/professional standards, New Jersey and Federal statute/regulationsShows willingness to assist other staff members in meeting their patient care responsibilitiesDocumentation: - Uses only approved abbreviations, Reviews and cosigns COTA notes, Performs and documents reevaluations as necessary, Keeps accurate statistics and are available in a timely fashionSupervises Rehabilitation Aides in their patient related dutiesInsures that Aides use proper techniques when assisting a therapist with a patientFollows all legal/regulatory restrictions regarding the use of AidesInsures that treatment plan determined by the occupational therapist is carried out by the COTAConsiders patient criticality, COTA knowledge and experience when assigning patients to a COTADemonstrates understanding of the department polices related to the Student ProgramGives timely, constructive feedback to the studentReviews student documentation prior to insertion into medical recordProvides for other related experiences such as observing surgery in conjunction with the clinical coordinatorPerforms all student evaluations on timeSupervises volunteers as needed and in compliance with department and hospital policiesMakes decisions on care, keeping the patient at the center of the decision-makingExhibits a desire to continue professional development and enhance clinical knowledge while meeting NJ State continuing education requirements for licensureEnters evaluations into computer on the day it was performedCompletes progress notes on same day of serviceEnters accurate charges for each treatment performedMaintains all documentation necessary for reimbursement (MD scripts, visit authorizations)Demonstrates compliance with findings from QI program findingsParticipates in inservices and training activities as indicatedProvides input into improving the operations of the departmentProvides input into improving the quality of care providedFollows all department policies and procedures to maximize cost efficiencies
