The Occupational Health Specialist coordinates the delivery of worksite health and medical services focusing on strategies that optimize health and prevent injuries and illnesses.
Day to Day:
Administers quality care in collaboration with internal and external members of the multidisciplinary team. Provides non-emergent assessment and treatment of occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses.Coordinates Workers Compensation and Case management services for the injured worker achieving optimal outcomes in a cost-effective manner. Assists with implementation and coordination of safety policies and practices.Assists with investigating safety related incidents and working with resources to determine root-cause and develop corrective actions.Collaborates with management team, employees, and contracted services to carry out safety program activities.Assists in data collection and recording for safety regulatory compliance.Functions as a disability case management (i.e. Short-term, Long-term, FML, and Workers Compensation) resource for the P&C department.Facilitates successful return-to-work strategies through coordination of transitional work assignments. Maintains health records, ensuring that records are complete and accurate, safeguarding the confidentiality of all employee information.Implements occupational health policies maintaining consistency with the Company's general policies.Manages leaves of absences and attendance programs for Owensboro hourly workforce.Implements programs related to new employee orientation, bloodborne pathogens, respirator compliance, and injury/illness management & prevention.Coordinates and completes occupational medical surveillance testing including respirator medical clearance, BBP exposure monitoring, and other testing as appropriate.Implements Drug/Alcohol testing program for the Owensboro facility and serves as a liaison for the Company's Employee Assistance Program (EAP) in Owensboro.Serve as a member of the Owensboro Crisis Management team.Provide HR related training and reporting, as needed.
What we are looking for:
Nursing, Occupational Health & Safety, or medical related degree preferred. (2) years of medical, health or safety related experience preferred.Possess strong analytical and interpersonal skills and the ability to meet and interact with the entire employee population.Ability to see and respond to emergency medical situations. This includes observing details at a close range.Strong computer, oral and written communication, and problem-solving skills are essential.Able to exercise initiative within the scope of assigned authority.Strong customer service skills and ability to maintain confidentiality, a must.Must be able to work in a variety of work environments including dusty environments, flavoring areas, temperature extremes, etc.Ability to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time and occasionally move extended distances to access files, office machinery, work areas, etc. Be able to occasionally ascend / descend stairs or a ladder and lift to 50lbs.Must be able to communicate and exchange accurate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to work 6pm - 6am on a 4on-4off schedule
