Job Title: Risk Specialist
Job Description

This position is pivotal in leading and managing all facets of occupational health, safety, environmental compliance, and risk mitigation within our manufacturing facility. The role is integral to ensuring regulatory compliance, minimizing operational risks, managing hazardous materials and waste, and fostering a strong culture of safety through collaboration with staff.

ResponsibilitiesEnsure compliance with OSHA, EPA, local, and other regulatory requirements.Develop and maintain comprehensive safety policies and procedures.Prepare and submit necessary regulatory documentation, reports, and permits.Identify potential operational and environmental hazards; conduct detailed risk assessments.Develop and implement effective risk mitigation strategies and corrective actions.Investigate incidents, near-misses, and accidents; lead root cause analysis and follow-up.Oversee handling, storage, labeling, and disposal of hazardous waste per federal and state regulations.Maintain hazardous waste manifests and documentation.Coordinate with licensed waste disposal contractors and environmental agencies.Coordinate staff training on safe hazardous materials handling, documentation, and emergency procedures.Manage workers’ compensation claim process, including reporting, documentation, and communication with insurance carriers.Support injured employees during recovery and return-to-work planning.Identify injury trends and implement strategies to reduce claim frequency and severity.Conduct regular facility inspections and internal audits for safety and environmental compliance.Track and report key safety metrics, trends, and action plans.Serve as the company’s point of contact during external audits or inspections.Coordinate 'right-to-know' programs regarding hazardous chemicals or substances.Deliver training sessions on required annual training and pertinent day-to-day operation topics.Organize emergency drills and ensure readiness plans are current.Lead and participate in safety committees and process improvement initiatives.Collaborate with Operations, HR, Maintenance, and Quality Teams to integrate safety and risk practices across business functions.Verify availability or monitor use of safety equipment, such as hearing protection or respirators.Essential SkillsBachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene or related field preferred.Three to five years of increasing responsibilities in EHS and/or environmental programs in manufacturing, production, or service operations.Experience managing workers’ compensation claims and collaborating with insurance providers and medical professionals.Current OSHA 10, OSHA 30, and First Aid/CPR certifications.Experience with Federal, state, and local environmental regulations such as OSHA, EPA, and DOT compliance.Knowledge of safety and health standards and regulations, and occupational health principles.Additional Skills & QualificationsChange management experience in growing or scaling a department.Responsible for clerical duties including documentation of regulatory compliance, policies, and procedures.Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify trends and generate insights.Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.Strategic thinking with a hands-on approach to problem-solving and team management.Experience with workers compensation claims.Comfortable running new hire meetings, employee orientations, and safety meetings.Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of working cross-functionally with all teams and departments.Work Environment

This role requires working 100% in the office, Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.85 - $33.65/hr.
