As a Physical or Occupational Therapy Technician, you will assist licensed therapy professionals by supporting patients with lifting, transferring, gait training, and exercise activities, while providing therapeutic assistance as directed. This Rehab Technician position plays a vital role in helping our Physical and Occupational Therapists deliver patient care across both our critical care units and regular nursing floors. It serves as an excellent entry point into the healthcare field, offering valuable hands-on experience and opportunities for professional skill development.  

This position is well-suited for individuals seeking practical, hands-on experience in a therapy-centered environment prior to pursuing advanced education in nursing, physical therapy, or other healthcare professions. While some team members choose to build long-term careers in this role, many utilize it as a valuable steppingstone toward advanced clinical pathways. 

 

A caregiver in this position works days| Monday—Friday| 8:00AM—4:30PM| No weekends or holidays. 

 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

Maintain sanitary, orderly conditions in department.  

Inventory departmental equipment.  

Ensure equipment is in good working order. 

Fabricate equipment as directed.  

Perform set-up of patient-related equipment. 

 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

High School Diploma/GED 

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross 

Familiar with performing job-related tasks, such as reading labels and instructions and completing order forms 

Basic mathematical skills sufficient to support inventory management, item measurement, equipment preparation, and supply ordering within budget guidelines 

 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

Healthcare experience 


Physical Requirements:

Ability to walk without assistive device and to maintain balance despite sudden load in order to support patient from falling during gait training.

Ability to lift and reach with arms sufficiently to lift patient's arm and leg during therapeutic treatment program.

Sensation of touch and manual dexterity to be able to palpate muscle tension or to monitor patient pulse.

Visual acuity to observe patient's gross and fine motor movements in order to analyze these movements.

Ability to speak clearly enough to instruct patients and families who may not be able to read. Ability to hear or understand patient's description of symptoms and response to treatment.

Mental ability to interpret clinical data for the establishment and implementation of appropriate patient treatment.

Ability to identify and resolve problems using critical thinking and decision-making.

Personal Protective Equipment:

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
