This is a hybrid role in Ottawa, ON. Note that role can also be hired in Halifax, NS (east coast) or Victoria, BC (west coast).
Position Summary
We have a current vacancy for a Obsolescence Specialist to join our Team in Ottawa, ON.
The Obsolescence Specialist provides Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) analysis for the Arctic and Offshore Patrol Ships and Joint Support Ships In-Service Support (AJISS) program with an emphasis on obsolescence including logistic support analysis, dependability, maintenance planning, technical documentation and publications, and training.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Accountable to the Reliability Manager, the Obsolescence Specialist will;
• Maintain and implement the Obsolescence Management Plan.
• Host quarterly Obsolescence Meetings to provide a program update to the internal/external stakeholders.
• Author the bi-annual Obsolescence Summary Report in accordance with the Data Item Description provided by DND.
• Use Integrated Logistic Support Analysis methods to develop strategies to identify and mitigate obsolescence in AJISS Systems, equipment and components.
• Conduct obsolescence risk assessments with engineering team support in order to;
• Prioritize obsolescence investigations and resolution development; and
• Develop and maintain a system/critical item obsolescence risk profile.
• Conduct or support ILS analysis including:
• Level of repair analysis;
• Maintenance task analysis;
• Life cycle cost modelling;
• Spares modeling;
• Application of technical standards and specifications;
• Verifying the technical design solution meets program supportability and availability objectives;
• Analyzing and reporting on design, development, test and implementation to meet contractual requirements;
• Preparing technical reports to identify issues, discuss options and recommended actions; and
• Foster enterprise values and develop relationships with industry, DND, FMF and the RCN.
Basic Qualifications
• Degree in engineering or college diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Marine Systems or equivalent.
• Minimum of five years post graduate experience, preferably with obsolescence management experience.
• Strong computer literacy, with proven experience with Microsoft products especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint essential.
• Experience interfacing between various internal/external stakeholders.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to balance multiple priorities. Experience within procurement, finance, project management or warehouse environments desirable.
• Language: English (Essential)
Preferred Qualifications
• Professional engineer designation.
• Project management.
• Previous experience working with a defense contract.
• Experience supporting an operational military asset.
• Experience working in or developing Jira Kanban boards.
Physical Demands
Predominantly office based, or remotely (including from home). May also be required to work onboard Naval Vessels and undertake inspections in machinery spaces and confined space, involving bending and twisting. Training to be provided.
Tasks may also require working at heights. Training to be provided.

Travel: Occasional domestic or international travel will be required, which will include access to government facilities and assets as well as naval vessels.

The reference Total Target Compensation(TTC) market range for this position, inclusive of annual base salary and the variable compensation target, is between Total Target Cash (TTC) 84,053.60 – 105,067 CAD Annual.
