Staff Nurse - Per Diem Day - BWH Ambulatory OBGYN


 

Job Summary

The Registered Nurse is a professional nurse registered in Massachusetts who is responsible and accountable for planning and providing patient care for assigned patients in accordance with Nursing Standards of Care as set forth in the Nursing Department's Clinical Practice Manual. The Registered Nurse demonstrates initiative, knowledge, and clinical skills in caring for the patient with complex needs. The Registered Nurse demonstrates the ability to effectively manage patients by assuming full responsibility for the assessment, plan, implementation, and evaluation of patient care and is directly responsible to a designated nurse manager or supervisor.

• Triaging calls and patient gateway messages of Gynecology patients-must be able to work autonomously.
• Working collaboratively with attending physicians, residents, fellows, physician assistants, social work, medical and practice assistants to meet needs of our obstetric patients.
• Administration of IM, SC and PO medications as ordered and per protocol.
• Interpretation and follow-up routine labs per protocol.
• Educating patients.
• Remaining flexible in meeting changing needs of clinic assignment and workflows.
• Must be a team player, multi-tasker, hardworking, reliable, trustworthy, empathetic, have a sense of humor and embrace diversity.
• Working collaboratively to provide excellent care to patients and families in the safest environment.


 

Qualifications

Education
Bachelor's Degree Nursing required

Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree?
Yes

Licenses and Credentials
Massachusetts Registered Nurse

Experience:

Experience as an Ambulatory GYN RN within last year is required.

Experience in telephone triage is required.

Proficiency in Ambulatory Epic Record is required.

Experience working in a resident teaching clinic is preferred.

Other:

Membership in professional organizations is recommended and certification in a specialty area is preferred.

Able to work weekend rotation per the MNA contract. 



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- The RN must show evidence of the basic analytic thinking necessary to care for a group of patients.
- Must demonstrate observational skills and the ability to set priorities.
- Must be able to function under stress with good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Must demonstrate effective skills in applying hospital standards in area of service, teamwork, communication, respect for others, and time/priority management.
