Nutritionist (Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation)
**University of Pittsburgh Physicians Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is hiring a full-time Nutritionist to join their team! This is a Monday through Friday daylight position with the hours of 8am to 4:30pm.** **Primary location is at the Kaufmann building in Oakland, but travel will be required to provide services as needed at all PMR outpatient locations, including Mercy Pavilion, Hampton, Bethel Park, Cranberry, St Margarets, Wexford. Telemedicine options available per patient preference and needs.** This is a direct patient care position, providing nutrition counseling, coaching, pacing, meal prep and other education for outpatients in the Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation department. The department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation treats patients with a wide variety of diagnoses and disabilities. Our focus is on improving function in daily activities and restoring a healthy lifestyle. This position is for someone who works well with a team, likes each day to be different, and can problem-solve to meet patients’ unique needs. **Purpose:** Nutritionist evaluates clients' dietary needs and provides counseling to promote healthy eating habits and overall well-being to lead individuals improved health. To scientifically assess clients clinical needs and develop a customized nutrition plan to have an impact on health issues, with particular attention to pain and fatigue. **Responsibilities:** + Evaluate clients' dietary habits, health conditions, exercising levels, sleeping habits and lifestyle factors to determine their nutritional needs. Create personalized meal plans and dietary recommendations tailored to individual health goals and preferences, with attention to anti-inflammatory diets and food intolerances. Offer guidance and support to clients, helping them understand the importance of nutrition and how to make healthier food choices. Track clients' progress and adjust nutrition plans as necessary to ensure they meet their health objectives. Clarifying information to clients and explaining the effects of nutrients on overall health condition. Offering counseling and suggest positive alterations in nutrition to address clients? dietary restrictions, including budget limitations.? Set clear objectives and provide support to clients to help them in their progress Demonstrate effective communication methods as a collaborative member of the interdisciplinary care team, and meet with other team members during team conference and as needed. Provide appropriate nutritional education and counseling based upon patient/family learning needs and abilities. Participate in department-based Quality Process Improvement activities with an ability to actively endorse evidence-based practice. Provide education regarding meal prep and energy conservation techniques. Recommend referral to advanced dietary services as needed. + Bachelors Degree in Nutritional Science, Human Nutrition Dietetics or Public Health Nutrition. + Licensed Dietician Nutritionist (LDN) licensure preferred but not required. + Skills: Analytical skills to accurately assess, plan, and evaluate outcomes. Interpersonal skills to effectively interact with a diverse population and collaborate in a team environment. Strong nutrition education/counseling and mentoring skill. Critical thinking skills for sound decision making.
