1. Plans menu in cooperation with parents and nutritionist. 2. Purchases, receives and maintains foods to assure quality and cost control. 3. Maintains proper storage and control of waste. 4. Prepares and serves food, supervises clean up. 5. Keeps proper records - - purchases, inventory, meals served, etc. 6. Supervises maintenance of equipment, kitchen and dining areas. 7. Maintains good sanitation and safety practices, including personal appearance and hygiene. 8. Participates in food-related learning activities: 9. Uses classroom participation to introduce new foods and other food-related experiences to children. 10. Includes children and parents in assisting with preparation and clean up. 11. Participates and assists in planning for parent nutrition and consumer education. 12. Uses available resources: commodity foods, milk program, community nutrition personnel, etc. 13. Reports suspected child abuse to supervisor. 14. Provides supervision for students at lunch. 15. Other duties as assigned.

Ability to successfully pass fingerprints and criminal investigation screening. Must have valid driver’s license and must meet insurance guidelines established by the Corporation. Food Handler, CPR/First Aid certified. Ability to obtain a TB test and health screening and meet all pre-hiring requirements as defined in Title 22 and contract specifications

Comments and Other Information 1. Operates kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, i.e. oven, stove, dishwasher, slicer, coffee machine, steamer, mixer and chef’s knives. 2. Lifts and carries up to 25 lbs. regularly, occasionally up to 50 lbs. May stand for 4 hours at a time, some squatting may be necessary to pick up items. 3. Uses the telephone to speak and listen. 4. Uses cleaning equipment, i.e. mop, broom, and vacuum cleaner. 5. Work environment may be hot, noisy, tight quarters. Comments and Other Information1.
