The job of Nutrition Services Coordinator is done for the purpose/s of coordinating the overall District food preparation, production, delivery, and service operations and related activities; supervising, training, coordinating, and organizing staff; providing information to others; and implementing and maintaining services within established guidelines and standards.

This job reports to DESIGNATED ADMINISTRATOR.

 

Representative Duties

 

 

Essential Functions
Assists with maintaining department websites and other on-line sites or systems (e.g. menu, childcare, etc.) for the purpose of delivering service in compliance with established guidelines.

Collaborates with Director of Nutrition Services to develop and implement district-wide nutrition policies, meet with district personnel, other district personnel, parents, community organizations for the purpose of implementing and maintaining services and/or programs.

Communicates with vendors to research, test, and evaluate products (e.g. evaluate food and recipes, review product nutrition specifications, clarification on quality specifications and product issues, etc.) for the purpose of recommending purchases, contracts, and maintaining district wide services.

Coordinates and conducts in-service, hands on training, and meetings for nutrition services department and staff (e.g. dietary needs or restrictions, food preparations, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and District regulations, etc.) for the purpose of providing information and increasing production and safety among all cafeteria staff.

Coordinates program components, support needs and materials (e.g. food preparation, production, delivery and service, reserving space, etc.) for the purpose of meeting District and/or grant/program guidelines.

Follows food safety guidelines (e.g. USDA dietary guidelines, State/Federal Nutrition Guidelines, and local Health Department Standards, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring food production that is safe for consumption.

Maintains a variety of manual and electronic files and/or records (e.g. vendor's documents, management training/units, sales, meals served, monies collected, work schedules, and production records, etc.) for the purpose of providing up-to-date reference and complying with regulatory requirements and established guidelines.

Oversees the requisition of food, commodities and supplies according to planned menus or operational needs, checking goods received assuring accuracy of quantity and quality for the purpose of maintaining availability of required items.

Participates in meetings, workshops, trainings, and seminars (e.g. increase knowledge and skills and to share with and train other District cohorts, etc.) for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.

Performs functions of Director of Child Nutrition Services during brief absences for the purpose of ensuring adequate staff coverage within nutritional services operations.

Prepares a variety of program-mandated reports for the purpose of ensuring ongoing funding by complying with district and/or grant/program requirements.
 
Presents information to District and Community groups (e.g. program offerings, funding status, participation levels, etc.) for the purpose of promoting program, gaining feedback and complying with established internal controls.

Supervises department functions including planning/scheduling/coordinating activities, training, advising, consulting (e.g. assign duties for personnel, train, evaluate performance, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that the department functions in a safe and efficient manner.

Supervises multiple site operations (e.g. staffing, inspecting, monitoring, etc.) for the purpose of providing efficient food services at the assigned site in compliance with established nutritional and health requirements.

Marginal Functions
Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

 

 

Initial/Minimum Qualifications

 

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in a job-related field.

Three (3) years of experience in a job-related field, which includes one (1) year of supervisory experience. Any other combination of education, training, and experience, which demonstrates that the applicant is likely to possess the required skills, knowledge, or abilities, may be considered.   LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Valid Class C Driver's license & availability of private transportation. Valid Manager Food-Safety certification. 

 

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Working Conditions

 

SKILLS are required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Independent problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires analysis based on organizational objectives; and problem solving with equipment is limited. Responsibility
Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods; directing other persons within a department, large work unit, and/or across several small work units; directing the use of budgeted funds within a work unit. Utilization of resources from other work units is often required to perform the job's functions. There is a continual opportunity to impact the organization's services.

Work Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 40% sitting, 50% walking, and 10% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations.
