On our Nutrition team as a Food Service Aide, your job will be to create a healing environment and nutritious food - just like our patients have come to expect. All the while, we'll provide you with opportunities to keep advancing your career. **A caregiver in this position works Monday-Friday from 6:00AM - 2:30PM or 10:00AM - 6:30PM, including rotating weekends and holidays.** A caregiver who excels in this role will: + Prepare quality food items in accordance with production sheets, recipes and menus. + Operate kitchen equipment. + Prepare food on the grill, in ovens or using an induction stove. + Prepare cold food items, vegetables, salad mixes and sandwich spreads. + Select, measure, grind, slice and mix ingredients. + Assist the cook and nutrition assistants. + Assist in the assembly of food for final preparation. + Assemble, transport and pick up patient trays to and from patient rooms. + Assist in preparing, setting up, serving and cleaning up special dinners and luncheons. + Follow proper sanitation procedures to produce, maintain and leave a clean, sanitized and organized work area. + Practice proper food handling techniques and the 'clean as you go' policy. + Organize supplies and food products. + Operate, load and unload the dishwasher. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + Ability to measure/weigh, add/subtract and multiply/divide during food preparation + Ability to safely utilize cleaning chemicals and other kitchen cleaning utensils and equipment + Ability to work in hot kitchens around hot equipment and a variety of other potential hazards ranging from spills on floors to sharp cutting equipment (knives, slicers, etc.) + Ability to withstand changes in work environment temperatures (hot kitchen to cooler) + An insensitivity to allergic reactions, as you will be around sanitation chemicals, gloves, food and supplies + Ability to read, write and follow written and verbal directions Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + High School Diploma or GED + Experience in food service OR the ability to perform general food service duties + Previous experience in large scale food preparation + Two years of related experience + Knowledge of cooking methods/procedures, including types of preparation and related routines + Prior restaurant experience in a kitchen + Training in institutional food preparation **Physical Requirements:** + Requires lifting up to 50 pounds. + Essential physical demands of the job include lifting up to 10 pounds overhead and lifting up to 30 pounds to shoulder or waist height. + Lifting up to 15 pounds to shoulder and waist height is an essential activity + Additional essential physical demands include the ability to carry linen, trash and supplies up to 30 pounds and pushing and pulling carts of 40 pounds weight. + Handling demands include the ability to walk, reach, handle or grasp, and stand + Squatting and reaching overhead is required frequently. Occasionally, kneeling to clean under beds, sinks, and toilets, twisting and sitting are required. + The position requires independent decision-making and mental concentration. **Personal Protective Equipment:** + Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required. **Pay Range** Minimum hourly: $15.00 Maximum hourly: $18.44 The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires.
