On our Nutrition team as a Food Service Aide, your job will be to create a healing environment and nutritious food — just like our patients have come to expect. A caregiver in this position works days/evenings, Monday-Friday, from 6:00AM – 2:30PM or 12:30PM – 9:00PM, including rotating weekends and holidays.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Prepare quality food items in accordance with production sheets, recipes and menus.
Operate kitchen equipment.
Prepare food on the grill, in ovens or using an induction stove.
Prepare cold food items, vegetables, salad mixes and sandwich spreads.
Select, measure, grind, slice and mix ingredients.
Assist the cook and nutrition assistants.
Assist in the assembly of food for final preparation.
Assemble, transport and pick up patient trays to and from patient rooms.
Assist in preparing, setting up, serving and cleaning up special dinners and luncheons.
Follow proper sanitation procedures to produce, maintain and leave a clean, sanitized and organized work area.
Practice proper food handling techniques and the “clean as you go” policy.
Organize supplies and food products.
Operate, load and unload the dishwasher.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Ability to work in hot kitchens around hot equipment and a variety of other potential hazards ranging from spills on floors to sharp cutting equipment (knives, slicers, etc.)
Ability to withstand changes in work environment temperatures (hot kitchen to cooler)
An insensitivity to allergic reactions, as you will be around sanitation chemicals, gloves, food and supplies
Ability to read, write and follow written and verbal directions
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
High School Diploma or GED
Experience in food service OR the ability to perform general food service duties
Hospitality experience
Experience working on a team
Physical Requirements:
Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls.
Ability to reach with hands and arms.
Ability to talk and hear.
Frequently required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Close, distance, color, peripheral, depth vision and the ability to adjust focus also required.

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
