Job Overview: 
Responsible for participating in the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of education and training for hospital associates. 

Qualifications:

Required:

Graduate of an accredited school of nursingBSN degreeAt least 3 years RN experience in telemetry or step-down/intermediate careAt least 5 years RN experience in acute care clinical servicesSuccessful completion of all Orientation Programs

Preferred:

MSN Education, Nursing and/or Health Related Field or post-master's certificate in education 2 years in professional development/education preferred

Certifications and Licenses Required:

Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of NJAmerican Heart Association BLS provider requiredAmerican Heart Association ACLS provider requiredSpecialty nursing certification such as PCCN and/or Nursing Professional Development-Board Certified/NPD-BC preferred

Scheduling Requirements:

Full-TimeDay shift3 days per week (Mondays required, remaining 2 days will vary)13hr shifts7a - 8p 37.5 hours weekly

Essential Functions:

Provides for orientation, in-service training, and continuing educationDevelops, implements, and validates initial and ongoing competenciesDemonstrates effective teaching skills through appropriate instructional methodologiesApplies principles of adult learning theory when conducting programsFacilitates professional role development and practice role transitionsEducates and mentors nursing staff on quality improvement and evidence-based practiceMaintains simulation lab and equipment; provides simulation experiences and encourages use of simulation in educational programsAnalyzes issues, trends, and supporting data to determine the learning needs of individuals and departmentsRepresents Nursing Professional Development/NPD specialty in hospital-wide/system-wide committees and councils; disseminates information accordinglyOrganizes multiple assignments and/or projects simultaneouslyVisible and accessible to clinical staffAdditional duties and responsibilities as delegated within NPD Scope and Standards of PracticeRole requires flexibility, adaptability, and independent prioritization of responsibilitiesTravel throughout RWJBH possiblePosition is focused on real-time clinical educationPrimarily on units
