Job Description

Assists patients in obtaining the maximum level of independence in activities of daily living. Performs direct/indirect nursing procedures and technical/ laboratory activities as appropriate and in accordance with the operating policies and procedures.

Job Responsibility

 

* Administers nursing care to assigned patients under the direct supervision of a registered nurse. Gives hygienic care to patients assigned and oversees/assists with activities of daily living; performs assigned treatments and procedures. Takes vital signs of patients assigned and reports values to the nurse in charge. Reports observations and unusual conditions of patients to the Registered Nurse. Prepares patients for meals and helps feed them as assigned. Observes patients requiring increased security to prevent harmful behavior. Follows principles of infection control and patient safety. Assists patient to wheelchair or stretcher. Collects required specimens as directed; e.g., urine, feces, sputum. * Maintains the environment of patients. Assists in maintaining a safe and clean environment in patient's room. Participates in ensuring that work areas are clean. Replenishes supplies as necessary. Performs related duties, as required.

Job Qualification

 

High School Diploma or equivalent, required. Successful completion of a Nurse Assistant Program. Minimum of one (1) year work experience. Ability to communicate effectively.
