Job Overview:

Provides basic, direct patient care, taking into account specific needs as related to patient s age. Assumes responsibility for care of patients and functions as a member of the health care team, taking direction and guidance from Registered Nurse. All care is provided in compliance with and according to department policy/procedure and Standards of Care.

Qualifications:

Required:

High School DiplomaBLS Certification through American Heart Association only1 year experience for per-diemAbility to read, write, and speak EnglishEffective communication skills and basic math skillsSuccessful completion of all Orientation Programs

Preferred:

Previous Nursing Assistant experience and/or successful completion of two Registered Nurse accredited clinical courses and/or completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant program

Certifications and Licenses:

BLS certification through American Heart Association

Scheduling Requirements:

Days 7:00AM - 3:00PMSchedule during the week will vary depending on department needs, minimum of 2 weekend shifts per monthPer-DiemMandatory Orientation

Essential Functions:

Participates in assessment of patient needs and communication with the health care teamParticipates in staff, patient and/or family education to a degree consistent with personal knowledge baseParticipates in unit Quality Improvement activities Uses an understanding of the principles of growth and development to assess each patient s age specific needs and provide age specific treatment and care
