Nursing Assistant Education Coordinator, .8 position

Responsible for coordinating and facilitating the Nursing Assistant education program, which includes assessing educational needs and designing educational interventions. Ensures programs meet quality guidelines and adheres to education principles.

Major Responsibilities:

Coordinates and prioritizes the development and delivery of the Nursing Assistant Education Program. This includes planning, budget development and cost and quality management.

Serves as the liaison between staff, management, councils, and educators to maintain an ongoing awareness of educational needs, provide a point of access and customer service, develop the nursing assistant education plan and ensure accountability for plan implementation and evaluation.

Coordinates the development, design, delivery, and evaluation of staff development, training programs, department projects and interventions. Develops educational interventions that are consistent with principles of adult learning, promote life long learning, achieve intended program impact, and participant satisfaction.

Selects and uses audio visual materials that facilitate intended program impact, address various learning styles, and meet the needs of the learners.

Responsible for the effective utilization of resources.

Presents nursing assistant educational programs and designs self-directed materials within areas of nursing expertise.


Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the team member practices.


Education Required:

Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent knowledge) in Nursing.


Experience Required:

Typically requires 3 years of experience in clinical nursing, which includes experience in providing care to the different populations.

Preferred:

Inpatient care experience

Education experience

Long term or home health experience


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

Knowledgeable in principles of adult education and educational design.

Remains current on training and development and adult learning techniques, topics, and related issues.

Strong group facilitation and consultation skills.

Current driver's license with a driving record that meets Advocate Health's fleet safety standards.

Excellent written and oral communication, planning and problem solving and decision-making skills.

Excellent organizational skills and ability to set priorities.

Knowledgeable on basic computer skills and programs (Word, Power Point) including teaching the management of the electronic health record as it applies to the CNA.


Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Must be able to:

lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist

lift up to 20 lbs. over the head

carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance

Must be able to:

push / pull with 30 lbs. of force

Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above the shoulders, and twist frequently during the work shift.

Position requires travel. May be exposed to road and weather hazards.

Must have functional sight and hearing.

Any exception to the above requirements must be documented through Employee Health.

Will be required to wear protective gear as needed.
