Responsibilities

Mayo Clinic Children’s is excited to recruit a physician assistant or nurse practitioner to serve in a central, highly visible clinical leadership role within the Pediatric Aerodigestive Clinic. This position offers a unique opportunity to function as the keystone clinician in an innovative, patient-centered, multidisciplinary care model dedicated to children with complex feeding, swallowing and breathing disorders.

The Pediatric Aerodigestive Clinic brings together experts from Otolaryngology (ENT), Gastroenterology, and Pulmonology, all supported by nursing, therapy, and nutrition colleagues. The NP or PA is at the heart of this team, serving as the primary longitudinal provider and coordinating clinician, ensuring continuity, clarity, and a holistic perspective across every phase of care.

In this role, the NP PA is the forward-facing clinical presence for patients and families—guiding them from their initial introduction to the clinic, through diagnostic evaluation and procedures in the operating room and onward to the execution and refinement of individualized treatment plans. This position offers a rare opportunity to follow patients across the full continuum of care while working side-by-side with proceduralists and subspecialists in real time.

The role is primarily based in the outpatient clinic with dedicated weekly time in the OR and procedure suite, allowing the NP PA to participate in procedures, discuss findings immediately with the multidisciplinary team and families, and translate those findings into coordinated clinical action.

Key responsibilities include:

Serving as the primary longitudinal clinician for children with aerodigestive disordersConducting comprehensive assessments and developing individualized, goal-driven care plansCoordinating diagnostic testing, procedures, and follow-up careOverseeing care coordination as executed by Aerodigestive team members, ensuring seamless, timely, and patient-centered delivery of careLeading multidisciplinary care conferences and care coordination effortsEducating and partnering closely with patients and familiesServing as the primary liaison with referring providers and community cliniciansEducating residents and fellows rotating through the clinicParticipating in research, innovation, and quality improvement initiatives, as desired

The Pediatric Aerodigestive Clinic has been in existence for over a decade and is widely recognized for its innovative care model, exceptional outcomes, and outstanding patient and family experience.
