How you make a difference

As a Nurse Practitioner - Specialist, you will provide comprehensive medical care to patients under the supervision of the Site Medical Director and other physicians, adhering to established policies and state guidelines. You will maintain a collaborative agreement with the Medical Director, ensure accurate documentation of clinical services, and coordinate schedule changes or coverage needs. You may also receive training in specialized areas such as Hepatitis C, HIV, Oncology, or Women’s Health to enhance the care you deliver.



Key Responsibilities Examine referred patients, conduct chronic care clinics, infirmary rounds, and sick call, ensuring progress notes are documented in SOAP format and aligned with therapeutic orders.Provide on-site emergency care, respond to health emergencies, and collaborate with the Clinical Advisor to develop and implement appropriate treatment plans.Follow established formularies, use non-formulary procedures only when necessary with proper documentation, and adhere to policies for infirmary admissions, emergency room transfers, and specialty referrals.Assume responsibility for clinical decisions, report concerns regarding care to leadership, and maintain strict patient confidentiality and privacy standards.Contribute to facility committees such as Pharmacy and Therapeutics or Medical Audit as requested, and perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education

Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing; Advanced Degree in an approved and Accredited Nurse Practitioner Program

Experience

Previous correctional/detention facility experienceMinimum two (2) years’ experience

Licenses/Certifications

Unrestricted and Current License, Certification, or Registration in State of practiceCurrent Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) registrationCurrent lifesaving BLS and PALS (where applicable) certification through AHA
