Responsibilities

Ascension Saint Agnes is seeking a compassionate Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our Psychiatry team in a hospital-based Consultation & Liaison role. This position focuses on providing psychiatric care to medically ill patients across the lifespan, with primary coverage in the Emergency Department and inpatient medical/surgical units. Experience working with complex medical patients is preferred.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Provide psychiatric consultation services to pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients in the Emergency Department and inpatient medical floorsConduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments, diagnoses, and treatment planning for hospitalized patients with medical and psychiatric comorbidities.Collaborate closely with psychiatrists and multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications and monitor treatment response.Educate and support patients and families regarding psychiatric conditions and treatment options.Participate in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings and contribute to overall patient care.Provide cross-coverage for consultation patients when the psychiatrist is on leave or engaged in administrative duties, with an expected daily volume of approximately 6–8 consultations, increasing during cross-coverage periods.Maintain productivity expectations, including RVU performance at or above the 50th percentile.Serve as the first point of contact for staff on the planned medical–psychiatric co-attending unit as it becomes operational.

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

Nurse Practitioner with Prescriptive Authority credentialed from the Maryland Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
