Job Overview:

The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner is an advanced practice registered nurse who provides health care to neonates, infants and children up to one year of age. The NNP provides care for critically ill premature and full-term infants with emphasis place on family centered culturally diverse sensitive care. In collaboration with the Neonatologist the NNP has daily responsibility for the assessment and management of patients in high and low acuity.

The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner practices in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team to provide a continuum of primary, acute and or subspecialty healthcare to their patients.

They enhance the quality of care through education and clinical practice utilizing advanced practice, knowledge and research.

Qualifications:

Required:

Education and experience in accordance with local, state and federal requirements,Master s degree in APP studies or a related field.Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience.Strong clinical and decision-making skills.Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities

Certifications and Licenses Required:

Current licensure APRN, RN, CDS and DEACurrent specialty-specific national certification through the National Certification Corporation NCCCurrent NRP and BLS certification as required by specialty practice,Current prescriptive authority per state regulationClinical privileges at healthcare facilities as applicableCurrent APP license and certification from the National Commission on Certification of APPs

Essential Functions:

Conduct comprehensive evaluations and assessments of patients.Diagnose and treat a wide range of medical conditions under the supervision of a physician.Develop and implement care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.Perform procedures as necessary.Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care.Communicate effectively with patients and their families regarding treatment plans and health education.Stay current with medical best practices, guidelines, and regulations.Engage in continuing education and professional development activities.Participate in research or quality improvement projects as directed or needed.
