**Job Summary and Qualifications**
The Nurse Manager RN Operating Room is a registered nurse responsible for the daily operational aspects of the unit and will work toward the achievement of the service goals and objectives. The position encompasses human resource management, including recommending enough qualified and competent personnel to provide care, financial and clinical management, and the provision and development of professional leadership. The Manager establishes departmental goals and objectives that ensure high quality, cost-effective patient care, while working collaboratively to integrate the goals of their unit with those of the Business Service and Kingwood Medical Center. The philosophy of continuous quality improvement (CQI) is integrated by the Manager into all ongoing operations and activities of the department.
**What you will do in this role:**
+ Supports the philosophy of Kingwood Medical Center by facilitating cooperation of hospital staff in a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care.
+ Consistently provides outstanding service to all patients, physicians, fellow employees, and guests.
+ Displays initiative to see processes through to completion and helps without being asked.
+ Maintains awareness of your own limitations and seeks guidance from appropriate personnel as needed.
+ Prioritizes activities of self-based on demands for service.
+ Remains alert to the detection of errors in their own work and the work of others with appropriate corrective actions initiated.
+ Demonstrates an understanding of patient rights, including those pertaining to confidentiality, informed decision-making, and privacy.
+ Is aware of resources available for ethical concerns and makes appropriate referrals.
+ Practices cost-efficiency.
+ Performs technical skills proficiently in accordance with established standards, as evidenced by annual validation processes.
+ Utilizes specialized knowledge and skills to perform job requirements.
+ Assists with the development of unit specific policies and procedures to ensure smooth operations.

+ Assumes responsibility to interview potential employees, recommend for hire, and suspend for cause.
+ Assumes responsibility to address issues of concern with staff members, including verbal and/or written counseling for poor performance and /or behavior.
**What qualifications you will need:**
+ Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state(s) of practice and/or has an active compact license, in accordance with law and regulation
+ Associate Degree in Nursing or RN Diploma required
+ Bachelor's Degree in Nursing highly preferred
+ 1+ years experience in leadership
+ 1+ years applicable experience required in healthcare & hospital surgery area
+ Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state(s) of practice and/or has an active compact license, in accordance with law and regulation.
+ Basic Life Support (BLS)
