Position OverviewUnited Health Services is seeking an experienced and compassionate Nurse Manager to lead our Obstetrics Unit, which includes labor and delivery, postpartum, and newborn care. This critical leadership role is responsible for overseeing daily clinical operations, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care, and fostering a supportive and collaborative environment for both patients and staff.
The Nurse Manager will provide direct supervision to clinical staff, champion evidence-based practices, and drive initiatives focused on continuous quality improvement, patient safety, and team engagement. Compensation Range:
$54.17 - $81.25 per hour, depending on experience

Up to $15,000 sign on bonus for candidates who meet eligibility criteria.
Job Responsibilities
Assessment & Planning
· Develops, maintains, and evaluates systems for patient and staff data collection to support safe and effective nursing care.
· Oversees patient care planning to ensure alignment with maternal and neonatal needs and patient-defined goals.
Clinical Leadership
· Empowers nursing staff to analyze clinical assessment data and identify appropriate diagnoses and care priorities.
· Ensures evidence-based care across the obstetric continuum including antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and newborn care.
Outcome Management
· Promotes achievement of high-quality, family-centered outcomes aligned with professional and organizational standards.
· Monitors and evaluates care plans for effectiveness and necessary adjustments.
Quality Improvement & Safety
· Leads quality assurance initiatives and promotes a culture of patient safety and continuous performance improvement.
· Participates in policy development and regulatory compliance related to obstetric care.
Team Development
· Conducts performance evaluations, coaching, and mentoring to support staff development and retention.
· Ensures staff maintain current competencies and credentials required for high-acuity obstetric nursing.
Professional Environment
· Cultivates a collaborative and respectful environment conducive to professional nursing practice.
· Fosters interprofessional communication with physicians, midwives, anesthesia, neonatology, and support staff.
Ethical & Evidence-Based Practice
· Upholds ethical standards in all clinical and managerial decisions.
· Facilitates integration of research and evidence-based practices into unit protocols and care delivery.
Resource & Fiscal Management
· Manages scheduling, supplies, and budgetary resources efficiently to support operational excellence in the obstetric unit
Position Requirement
Minimum
+ Bachelor's degree in nursing
+ Current New York State Registered Nurse License
+ Three (3) years of progressively responsible, relevant clinical experience
Preferred
+ Previous supervisory experience
+ Master’s degree in nursing or related field
+ Professional certification in a related nursing specialty (Nursing Administration and/or clinical practice area)
