Position Summary / Career Interest:The Nurse Manager provides administrative and nursing leadership for staff involved in the provision of care and services during evening, night, weekend and holiday hours. The Nurse Manager provides administrative decision making and assists with coordination of patient flow, patient placement and other patient services through collaboration with administrative supervisory staff, physicians, charge nurses and ancillary support across all hospital departments, As the on-site administrative nursing leadership representative, the Nurse Manager provides direction guidance for hospital staff in interpretation and application of policies and procedures, problem solving, utilization of assignment of nursing resources, response to patient and family complaints and initiation of emergency preparedness plans for any presenting emergency situations.

Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions

Achieve business and organization goals, visions and objectives.Administer corrective action to employees not meeting requirements of their jobs.Analyzing, reporting, giving recommendations and developing strategies on how to improve quality and satisfaction.Create a unit budget and manage to this by monitoring staffing, supplies, travel, equipment, volume, revenue, charges, education, and food.Identifying problems, providing solutions and courses of actions.Interact in a positive, professional manner with evidence of conflict resolution skills.Maintain a presence on the unit.Primary involvement in employee selection, career development, succession planning and periodic training.Role Model professional nursing practice through collaboration with staff, leadership, patients, families and physicians.Serve as a mentor for staff developing into leadership rolesSupervise and manage the overall performance and technical competencies of staff in his/her department.Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.Conducts new hire selection, orients/trains, evaluates competencies; manages performance; intervene/counsels, request
termination when necessary. Assists in monitoring and maintaining the budget while identifying and recommending opportunities to reduce costs.Pervisors to ensure needed coverage and provide guidance for challenging situations; able to function in house supervisor role.These statements are intended to describe the essential functions of the job and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities. Required Education and Experience

High School GraduateBachelor Degree Nursing


Preferred Education and Experience

Master Degree Nursing2 or more years Minimum of 2 years of management experience


Required Licensure and Certification

Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) - American Heart Association (AHA) within 14 daysLicensed Registered Nurse (LRN) - Single State - State Board of Nursing

Professional Nursing Certifications
