Job Details The Nurse Manager is a Registered Professional Nurse who ensures compliance to standards of care and practice. The NM under the Cancer Institute at GSHMN is responsible for the planning, coordination and delivery of nursing care services related to the care of the Hematology/Oncology patient served in the infusion center. This individual will be responsible for maintaining the operational aspects of the unit by participating in budget preparation and monitoring resources. Additionally, attendance at required management meetings, participation on department committees and demonstration of clinical expertise in the delivery of biotherapy/chemotherapy agents is expected. Responsibilities: Practices regular hand hygiene and complies with standard and transmission based precautions as applicable. Accountable for maintaining Infusion Center Policies and Procedures that are up to date and that Nursing Staff adheres to set regulations. Maintains professional competency and seeks opportunities for self growth. Responds appropriately to the special needs of each group served specific to age, language, gender, culture, religion/spirituality, economic background, education or literacy, developmental or cognitive disabilities, physical and developmental disabilities. Employee aids in the orientation/mentoring of new employees. Plans, projects and monitors staffing needs based on unit census, policies and other variables. Responsible for hiring employees and encouraged to facilitate peer interviews in selection process. Accountable for annual performance evaluations and competency reviews for entire staff based on standards of clinical practice in collaboration with Nurse Educator. Coaches and counsels employees in accordance with established practices. Ensures a safe, clean and secure environment for patients, staff and visitors by monitoring environment, equipment and supplies. Prepares the fiscal plan (personnel and capital) for the patient care unit, monitors, productivity reports and monthly statements and explains variances. Resource person to nursing personnel, physicians and other departments. Promotes safe nursing practice. Intervenes with family and other health care providers as appropriate. Supervises and checks the work of staff. Provides leadership and direction in accordance with department goals and policies. Supports administrative decision and changes within the department. Maintains professional competency and seeks opportunities for self growth. Employee is expected to provide direct Infusion Patient Care on as as needed basis depending on staffing/volume. Partners with Infusion leadership including Administrative Manager, Pharmacy, APP and Operations team to execute and lead departmental goals and performance improvement initiatives. Adheres to all organizational policies and procedures. Qualifications: Demonstrated competence in leadership preferred; prior supervisory experience preferred. Education: Bachelors of Science in Nurse (BSN) required. Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred or actively enrolled in a Masters program. Licensure: Current New York Registered Nurse (RN) License Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) required. ONS & Biotherapy/Chemotherapy Certification required. OCN Certification strongly preferred. Strong computer skills (MS Office). Strong leadership, time management, and verbal and written communication skills required. Salary Range USD $146,250.00 - USD $156,000.00 /Yr. This range serves as a good faith estimate and actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience. The salary range or rate listed does not include any bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.
