JOB SUMMARY

The Manager, Nursing Support Registered Nurse 2 (RN) is responsible for managing all issues related to the Baylor Scott & White Corporate (CRP) nursing Float Pools, and contracts with agencies providing travel and per diem staff for nursing services. Manages CRP Float Pool staff and maintains administrative responsibility. Acts in partnership with hospital Administrative Supervisors (or other as designated by entity CNO) to provide and schedule CRP Float pool staff in support of business need.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE

Serves as administrator of enterprise staffing and scheduling system.

Supports contingent staffing needs thorough knowledge and understanding of each hospital's service lines, bed capacity and capabilities, bed management processes and protocols.

Works closely with BSWH Director of Nursing Support Services and hospital Chief Nursing Officers and Administrators' offices or their designee to manage BSWH float pool scheduling, and proactively managing contingent staffing needs.

Hires and manages employees in the Reward Staffing float pools and associated clerical personnel.

Develops performance plans, identifies performance issues, manages performance and career development of direct reports.

Coordinates hospital/nursing education to ensure appropriate onboarding, orientation and competency assessment of Reward Staffing Float pool staff prior to assigning worker to patient care.

Coordinates the educational activities of Reward Staffing Float pool staff; communicates new/revised protocols, guidelines and standards to assigned staff as changes occur.

Interfaces with appropriate members of BSWH nursing leadership relating to contingent staffing issues, including emergency disaster procedures.

Functions as a resource to nursing leaders to ensure efficient and cost-effective management of contingent workforce.

Develops reviews, revises, submits and implements policies, procedures, goals and objectives for Reward Staffing float pool and ensures that policies and procedures are complementary to BSWH goals and objectives.

KEY SUCCESS FACTORS

Knowledge and understanding of nursing and patient care standards and procedures.

Knowledge of laws, rules and regulations; standards and guidelines of certifying and accrediting bodies; hospital and department/unit standards, protocols, policies and procedures governing the provision of nursing care applicable to the area of assignment.

Knowledge of medical terminology; principles and practices of health promotion, risk reduction, illness and disease prevention and management; medications and drugs, common dosages, their physical and physiological effects, and possible adverse reactions.

Knowledge of medical and professional nursing ethics and patient privacy rights.

Must be able to communicate thoughts clearly; both verbally and in writing.

Ability to provide age-specific, quality, patient-centered care to all patients through the nursing process and standards of nursing practice with sensitivity and respect for the diversity of human experience and to develop, evaluate, implement and, as necessary, modify a patient care plan to meet the needs of individual patients.

Ability to make operational decisions around how work gets done - quality and productivity standards, measurable goals for employees and project teams, etc.

Ability to use broader objectives to determine how best to use resources to meet schedules and goals.

Ability to make or approve effective hiring and termination decisions.

Ability to evaluate and recommend changes to policies, and establish procedures that affect the managed organization.

General computer skills, including but not limited to: Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling and payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, and email.
 

Bachelor's degree.A minimum of three years' professional experience is required for this role.RN licensed.You also need Basic Life Support certification within the first 30 days on the job.
