Nurse Manager, Full Time Days, Occupational Medicine
Principal Accountabilities: 1. Develops, implements and manages annual capital/operating and personnel (FTE) budget. Uses resources effectively and manages expenses to meet financial goals of department(s). 2. Contributes to the strategic planning process, day-to-day operations, standards of care or service, and attainment of organizational goals. Facilitates collaborative problem solving among interdepartmental disciplines. Advocates for and allocates available resources to promote efficient, effective, safe and compassionate care or service based on current best practice standards. 3. Ensures the requirements for Compliance and Mandatory/Required Elements for staff (Immunizations, Conflict of Interest, licensure, safety training) are met. 4. Responsible for unit or department performance and compliance with patient safety initiatives, federal, state and other regulatory bodies such as Joint Commission, OSHA, CMS as applicable, and other department specific accrediting and certifying bodies. Ensures achievement of clinical program goals (as appropriate) and implements action plans to improve performance as needed. 5. Maintains CLIA certification across all sites and maintains team member compliance with annual competencies. 6. Oversees Annual Flu Vaccination Program. 7. Oversees the day-to-day functions of OMS Teams including management of Specialty Clinics (e.g., respiratory fit testing) scheduling in conjunction with Environmental Health and Safety. 8. Work with Exposure Team Leads and relevant departments on tracking and trending of infectious diseases and work injuries and illnesses including bloodborne pathogen exposures. 9. Oversees the Transitional duty program’s day-to-day functions. 10. Organizes departmental meetings and attends management and other meetings as assigned. 11. Effectively uses professional and organizational best practices to ensure the delivery of quality care or service. Participating member of a professional organization appropriate to position and service line. Facilitates and encourages staff participation in professional organizations and professional development. 12. Implements and role models company vision, mission, values, and facility initiatives and goals. Monitors and improves patient satisfaction utilizing available service metrics and national benchmarks to develop and implement action plans to achieve desired outcomes in patient engagement goals. 13. Models and fosters an environment of professionalism and employee engagement in the department. Responsible for recruitment, retention, and employee engagement. Responsible for creating an effective department culture which ensures an engaged workforce. 14. Ensures sufficient staffing levels to meet care and/or service needs, which include hiring, orientation, and managing staffing to a changing census. Ensures that new skill training and ongoing competency verification is completed annually. Evaluates staff competency through use of performance reviews and may utilize peer reviews. Mentors staff and provides professional educational opportunities. Utilizes participative management models. Promotes shared decision-making and professional autonomy by providing department input into executive-level decisions, and by keeping staff informed of executive level activities. 15. Partners with physicians at the department level to achieve clinical, operational, and service goals as appropriate. 16. Communicates to staff and encourages participation in opportunities for community outreach activities (e.g., health fairs, middle and high school education). Manages, coordinates, and supports student activities as appropriate. Supports staff participation in outside community organizations such as volunteer health clinics, health fairs and advisory boards for not-for-profit organizations. 17. Role may require specialty knowledge, skills, and abilities within one or more departments/areas. Please refer to the QUALIFICATIONS section 18. Travel to all sites on a regular basis to ensure effective departmental operations is required. 19. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: 1. Bachelor's degree. Education must be obtained from an accredited institution. 2. Master's degree in Business, Healthcare, Finance, Accounting or Nursing. 3. Three years of healthcare management experience. 4. COHN-S desirable. 5. Demonstrated expertise in leadership, mentoring ability, organization, and problem-solving skills. 6. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. 7. Role could require specialty knowledge, skills and abilities related to Occupational Medicine. 8. Experience leading customer relations, finance, and productivity management, continuous quality improvement, personnel staffing and development, and directing or leading activities in the department.
