Under the direction and supervision of the responsible Registered Nurse, performs specific patient care duties to meet safety and comfort needs of the patient using the nursing process. Provides input to assist the RN in planning and implementing patient care. Responds to emergent situations according to established procedures. Recognizes and participates in own continuing education.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalentEnrolled in an accredited school of nursingThe completion of two clinical rotations, one of which must be Med/Surg (in an acute care setting)Physical ability to lift and move patients, supplies, and equipment with appropriate technique/deviceSuccessful completion of 180-day introductory period required to achieve knowledge of policies relative to job duties and patient care unit.
LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION REQUIRED:
BLS Healthcare provider to be completed during orientation
TO REMAIN ACTIVE IN THE NURSE EXTERN ROLE, YOU MUST:
