Nurse Educator - Diabetes Prevention and Management Program - 36 hours

General Summary:

This position is responsible for collaborative assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation or consultation on educational activities to develop, maintain, and enhance clinical, educational and leadership skills of nursing and assistant personnel. 

 

We are seeking a motivated, organized, flexible, and critical-thinking educator. Responsible for coordinating Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital’s DSME outpatient program, maintaining ADA and MDHHS certification and quality standards. Provides one-on-one and group diabetes education in-person and via telemedicine, in collaboration with RD and providers. Leads community education and support groups. Represents HFWH on the system glycemic control committee. Supports inpatient nursing education and provides bedside diabetes teaching. Assists with nurse orientation, nurse residency presentations, and is a BLS instructor. Develops education on insulin pumps and CGMs. On-call duties required for inpatient diabetes teaching.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.Current Michigan RN licensure required.Equivalent of three years clinical experience with defined patient population preferred.
