Nature & Purpose of Position Performs responsible professional nursing work according to recognized nursing and medical standards. Primary Responsibilities Implements the Student Health Center’s (SHC) objectives and administrative policies. Maintains patient and staff confidentiality in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) regulations and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). Practices within the boundaries of license. Complies with adverse incident reporting system and public health requirements. Performs triage to assess patient needs and direct appropriate level of care based on clinical indications. Identifies patient needs and implements nursing actions or involves medical provider to meet those needs. Administers oral, topical, and parenteral medications. Performs treatment and preventative measures in accordance with standard clinic procedures as prescribed by medical providers or standing delegated orders. Prepares and assists with gynecologic examinations, minor surgery, and assists where necessary to facilitate and coordinate patient care. Performs phlebotomy, point-of-care tests, and other laboratory tasks as assigned. Reliably documents pertinent information regarding patient care. Is adept at use of electronic health record (EHR). Works independently, solve problems and makes appropriate decisions within the scope of licensure. Collaborates with medical providers in the organization, planning, and delivery of care.
