As a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, you will prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals to patients for imaging and treatment, primarily to help diagnose cancers and cardiovascular diseases. In this role, you will collaborate with department caregivers and medical staff to improve patient care and workflow by providing support, education, and assistance to patients, customers, and fellow colleagues. This position is essential to the Imaging Department, enabling the team to effectively support patients and deliver high-quality diagnostic and treatment services. **A caregiver in this role works day/evening/night/weekend shifts from 6:00 a.m. - 6:30 p.m. or 7:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. with rotating weekend and holiday requirements.** **_Caregivers in this position may rotate between the Weston and Coral Springs locations._** A caregiver who excels in this role will: + Perform nuclear medicine procedures according to the manual and written order. + Utilize equipment safely and according to manufacturer's recommendation. + Perform quality control on the gamma camera and other equipment as required. + Ensure that all equipment is appropriately maintained, calibrated and working properly. + Report equipment problems to supervisor or service personnel as required and discontinue use of equipment until repairs have been completed when the equipment problem causes image quality degradation or safety issues. + Review the physician's orders to determine the proper isotope required for each type of test ordered and order the necessary isotope from the pharmacy. + Explain the procedures to the patient, parent or legal guardian and obtain written consent for all invasive procedures prior to the exam. + Complete site identification procedure prior to the start of invasive procedure. + Utilize appropriate skills in accurately and descriptively documenting patient's pertinent clinical information, medical history, allergies and other pertinent information. + Consult with radiologist or referring physician regarding contraindications to ordered exam. + Respond to emergency situations, i.e., contrast reactions and medical emergencies according to departmental, clinic and hospital policy. + Advise the nurse in charge of the patient of any unusual occurrence which happened to the patient while in the Imaging Department. + Operate the required digital equipment effectively in the production, storage and transmission of images. + Report any equipment problems, safety issues or patient complaints to the supervisor. + Provide backup assistance to other associates in the department upon completion of duties or as assigned by supervisor. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + Graduate from an accredited School of Nuclear Medicine Technology + Florida License as a General Radiographer (RAD) + Registered with the American Registry of Radiology Technologists (ARRT) or certified with the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) + Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross + Knowledge of federal and state regulatory Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + Two years of experience as an Imaging Technologist in an acute care imaging setting **Physical Requirements:** + Special Demands: Needs minimal sustained direction in assessing needs, carrying out departmental and professional responsibilities; self-starting and self-motivating; working hours may exceed eight (8) hours per day and is based on what is needed to accomplish work at hand. + Mental Demands: Ability to work at a fast pace and to prioritize multiple assignments/projects and respond to numerous requests and to work collaboratively with other members of the healthcare team; ability to ensure operational efficiency; ability to problem solve and make decisions; ability to exercise self-control and tolerate stress when dealing with multiple requests and/or conflicting demands from multiple customers. **Personal Protective Equipment:** + Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures. **Pay Range** Salaries [which may be] shown on independent job search websites reflect various market averages and do not represent information obtained directly from The Cleveland Clinic.
