We are looking for an experienced contract manager with a demonstrable experience within commercial contract management within either the Nuclear, Construction or Oil & Gas.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, managing and administering the contractual framework for nuclear projects for the UK and internationally. This includes working closely with key account managers to ensure risk mitigation, major contract framework bids and renewals, preparing task orders, and setting project budgets to ensure the successful mobilisation of contracts

Responsibilities will include:

This role is required to ensure operational excellence and delivery for commercial utilising the NEC or FIDIC contract framework methodologies, with a focus on the use of the CEMAR platform.

 

Commercial Management:

Serve as the primary point of contact for all commercial and contractual matters with key nuclear clients. Manage the renewal and renegotiation of key client accounts, ensuring contract terms and conditions are optimised. Prepare detailed task orders, work packages, and budgets for nuclear projects, in collaboration with project teams. Analyse project cost data and financial performance and provide recommendations to improve profitability.

 

Portal Management:

Routinely monitor and manage relevant industry portals to stay informed of market developments and opportunities Work with the Energy Business Market Analyst to track opportunities and inform go/no-go decision making

 

Bid Support:

Support and develop bid capability statements to enable proportionate and strategic bidding efforts Maintain a reference library of pre-approved bid materials for specific sectors and customers Provide guidance and support to the bidding team to ensure consistent and compelling proposals Provide short consultancy proposals in line with DoA

 

Operational Delivery and Mobilisation

Utilise the CEMAR platform to track contract obligations, milestones, and commercial deliverables. Identify and mitigate commercial risks and implement appropriate risk management strategies. Provide guidance and training to project teams on the commercial aspects of NEC and FIDIC contracts. Maintain comprehensive contract documentation and financial records, ensuring compliance with internal and external requirements. Collaborate with procurement, finance, and other stakeholders to ensure effective commercial management of nuclear projects. Contribute to the development and implementation of commercial strategies and best practices for the nuclear business. Stay up to date with the latest commercial and contractual developments in the nuclear industry.

 

Experience & Skills Required:

Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related field or equivalent comparable experience  Demonstrable experience in commercial contract management, preferably in the nuclear, construction or oil and gas industries Appreciation of the NEC and FIDIC contract forms and their commercial implications. Proficient in the use of the CEMAR platform or similar contract management software. Strong financial and budget management skills, with the ability to analyse project cost data and identify optimization opportunities. Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with clients and cross-functional teams. Knowledge of nuclear industry regulations, standards, and commercial best practices. Ability to work independently and as part of a team to deliver high-quality, timely results.

 

Preferred Skills:

Professional certification in contract management (e.g., AACEI, NCMA). Experience in dispute resolution and claims management. Familiarity with other contract forms (e.g., EPCI, EPC) and their commercial implications in the nuclear industry. Proficiency in data analysis and reporting using tools such as Excel, Power BI, or Tableau. Strong understanding of nuclear project lifecycle and commercial drivers.
