The Nuclear Design Engineer is responsible for the creation of component/assembly/systems designs and associated through life justification that meet their requirements and product attributes, ie life, cost availability and safety margins. The Nuclear Design Engineer shall create solutions and justifications that are robust against variation, taking account the full life cycle (concept to disposal). The role will cover the nuclear plant and associated support equipment, such as, but not limited to, production tooling, assembly/disassembly equipment and in service maintenance equipment.

What you will be doing:
With this exciting opportunity you will get a chance to be involved with the following:
Understand Product system / sub-system requirements and derive Component requirements at task level.
Produce robust design solutions which are insensitive to variation to address specified requirements.
Collaborate and communicate design solution information with task stakeholders.
Search for, capture, store, and re-use knowledge relating to design activity.
Understand and apply the commodity standards and to create new standards where none exist.
Liaise with manufacturing and service engineering to actively integrate the experience and knowledge from these areas.
Check own and others design a solutions for completeness and correctness.

To be successful in this role you will need to meet the following criteria:
Bachelor's degree, Master's or PhD in Engineering or regional equivalent qualification or equivalent technical capability based on practical knowledge and experience.
Technical experience relevant to the engineering discipline.
An ability to apply logical, analytical and innovative thinking on a range of technical problems.
Knowledge and experience of product integrity / liability and justification.
Membership of a relevant professional body or working towards.
Experience as design engineer operating across the product life cycle, undertaking design safety justification activities supporting manufacturing, integration, maintenance /refit activities and dealing with operational issues.
Experience of Research and development, analytical and test verification activities.
Experience in the development of methods, standards and processes.
