Job Summary
The Advanced Practice Provider develops, implements, and evaluates a program of specialized cardiovascular health care. The APP promotes a collaborative relationship among various health care professionals toward continuity of patient care and efficient use of resources. The APP serves as a role model for professional practice in the management of cardiovascular patients.In accordance with the rules and regulations of the state of Massachusetts and the MGH governing Advanced Practice Providers (NP/PA) practice, and under the general supervision of the Director of Advanced Practice Providers and the Medical Director for Interventional Cardiology, the APP provides direct care to patients in a high-volume inpatient clinical service. S/he Admits, discharges and develops, implements, and evaluates a program of specialized health care for a select patient population with cardiovascular disease. S/he/they will be intimately involved in direct care and education of patients, and should have experience working with patients requiring diagnostic and/or invasive procedures performed in a cardiac catheterization lab. The APP promotes a collaborative relationship among various health care professionals toward continuity of patient care and efficient use of resources.
The APP will be the primary clinical "responmding clinician" for Ellison 11 inpatient cardiology patients. This included patients with heart failure and valvular heart disease undergoing specialty valve procedures including TAVR, Mitral Clip, tricuspid valve repair. S/he will manage patients collaboratively with an attending cardiologist or Cardiology hospitalist. They will be responsible for day to day management, ordering meds, tests and daily assessment of patients.
S/he/they will coordinate testing or specialty referrals, order diagnostic studies and interventional procedures.
Qualifications

Prescribe Schedule II-VI medications in accordance with guidelines developed with supervising physician Maintain a current license from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, Division of Food andDrugs Maintain a certificate for prescribing controlled substances from the Drug Enforcement Administration Monitors patient outcomes in accordance with defined standards of patient care.Facilitates patient movement through the system and efficient use of resources through interdepartmental collaboration.Serves as a resource to staff in area(s) of expertise. Participates in the development of formal and informal educational programs.
