Location: Roxboro, NC Start Date: ASAP Employment Type: Full-Time About the Role: The School Counselor/School Mental Health Worker provides individual and group counseling to students experiencing emotional, behavioral, or social challenges. This role supports students in developing coping strategies, improving emotional regulation, and enhancing overall mental well-being. In collaboration with families, teachers, and other school staff, the counselor helps create a safe and supportive learning environment, facilitates referrals to community-based mental health services when needed, and contributes to the development of school-wide mental health initiatives. Key Responsibilities: • Provide individual and group counseling sessions for students. • Support students in developing coping skills and emotional regulation strategies. • Collaborate with families, teachers, and administrators to promote student success. • Facilitate referrals to community-based mental health services when appropriate. • Contribute to school-wide mental health and SEL initiatives, including daily guidance lessons using the Second Step curriculum for K-5. • Maintain accurate documentation and comply with professional standards of practice. Minimum Qualifications: • Licensing/Certification according to state, facility, or contract requirements. • Master’s Degree in Counseling required; degrees in Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Nursing, or Human Development may be considered per state/facility guidelines. • Experience in school settings or with adolescents/families preferred. • Current CPR certification if applicable. • TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray if applicable. • Current health certificate (per contract or state regulation). • Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
