The St. Luke’s University Health Network Northampton Community College (NCC) Health Care Scholarships is a partnership scholarship program aimed at developing and enhancing a candidate pipeline for future Registered Nurses and Radiology Technologists. St. Luke’s currently offers scholarships in affiliation with NCC to students in good academic standing with the Nursing Program or Radiography Program. While learning the skills needed to perform their future career path, participants will receive financial compensation directly to Northampton Community College (NCC). Upon completion of either the Nursing Program or Radiography Program, scholarship recipients will sign a two year employment agreement with St. Luke’s University Health Network. The intent of this job description is to provide a summary of the major duties of the future responsibilities of scholarship recipients and shall not be considered as a detailed description of all the work requirements that may be inherent in the position. _______________________________________________________________________________________ About St. Luke’s St. Luke’s University Health Network is a nationally recognized teaching hospital with proven success indicators. Conditions of the Scholarship + The recipient will be awarded the scholarship for the equivalent of two full time year s of enrollment in either the Registered Nursing program or Radiology Program . + If the scholarship recipient withdraws from NCC , they will be expected to repay the scholarship in full. + Scholarship recipients will be expected to work fulltime for St. Luke’s upon graduation for a minimum of two years starting within 60 days of graduation . + Should the scholarship recipient voluntarily terminate employment before working 24 months, repayment of 1/24 of the scholarship is due for every month not worked. + Should the recipient be discharged for disciplinary reasons, the scholarship must be paid back in full. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Nursing Program Scholarship Information: Upon completion of the program, a student will become a Graduate Temporary Practice Permit (TPP) Nurse who delivers nursing care for patients across their life span, and through the nursing process, assesses, plans, implements, coordinates, evaluates and documents the effects of care. + Performs systematic assessment of all assigned patients. + Formulates collaborative and individualized plan of care and identifies expected patient outcomes, using the nursing process. + Implements, evaluates and documents patient care interventions and effectiveness. + Organizes, coordinates and prioritizes patient care utilizing available resources. + Functions as a professional role model and resource person providing guidance to co-workers. + Maintains responsibility for own professional development through active participation with in - services and/or continuing education programs. + Complies with established chain of command for work-related problems. + Participates in identifying unit needs and supports unit goals and objectives. + Maintains departmental records for administrative and regulatory purposes. + Maintains confidentiality of all materials handled within the Network/ Entity as well as the proper release of information. + Demonstrates competency in the assessment, range of treatment, knowledge of growth and development and communication appropriate to the age of the patient treated. _______________________________________________________________________________________ Radiography Program Scholarship Information: Upon completion of the program, a student will become a Radiology Technologist who performs diagnostic radiographic procedures adhering to the principle of radiation protection, according to local, state and federal standards. + Properly identifies patient and exam and performs diagnostic radiographic services on patients with the maximum amount of care, while evaluating the technical quality. + Responsible for successful technical continuity of care and education of radiological procedures to patients. + Demonstrates competency in the knowledge of the RIS /HIS modules appropriate to their job responsibilities. + Assists in gathering and recording data for Radiology Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement program. + Assumes responsibility for assigned area, making sure all equipment and supplies necessary for that area are readily available for use. + Accurately adheres to downtime procedures to assure appropriate information is available resulting in excellent continuity of care for patients. + Maintains responsibility for own professional development through active participation with in- services and/or continuing education programs. + Provides educational information to the patient regarding their examination. + Annual peer review of films meets department standards. + Knowledgeable regarding patient condition, history and appropriate background and information pertinent to proposed examination. + Accountable for quality of digital images sent to PACS. Verify correct patient is selected from worklist, ensures accuracy of Medical Record information prior to being sent to PACS. + Responsible for the success of the department to achieve hospital designated Press Ganey mean score. Every patient should receive patient education and your personalized business card. Apology cards should be sent or given to all patients when we do not meet their expectations. + Maintains confidentiality of all materials handled within the Network/Entity as well as the proper release of information. + Demonstrates competency in the assessment, range of treatment, knowledge of growth and development and communication appropriate to the age of the patient treated.
