**THE OPPORTUNITY:**
The North America Field Medical Director leads Abbott Diabetes Care (ADC) field medical activities across the United States and Canada, providing strategic direction, scientific leadership, and operational oversight for the regional Field Medical team. This role is accountable for ensuring high‑quality, compliant scientific engagement with healthcare professionals, academic leaders, and healthcare systems in support of ADC’s diabetes portfolio.
Position reports to the Senior Medical Director, North America.
Position is full-time remote in the U.S.
**WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON:**
+ Serve as the senior leader of the North America Medical Affairs field function, contributing to medical strategy development and translating strategy into clear, measurable field execution plans.
+ Lead and develop a multi‑level Field Medical team (Directors, Managers, and MSLs), driving performance, accountability, coaching, and career development.
+ Provide operational leadership for the MSL organization, including territory design, activity planning, and execution standards to ensure consistent, high‑quality field engagement.
+ Maintain budgetary and resource oversight for the field team, ensuring efficient allocation of headcount and resources aligned to strategic priorities.
+ Build and sustain strong cross‑functional partnerships to ensure field activities are aligned, collaborative, and well‑coordinated.
+ Ensure all field medical activities are conducted in a compliant, ethical, and scientifically rigorous manner in accordance with local regulations and company standards.
+ Serve as a key link between the field and internal stakeholders, synthesizing insights to inform medical strategy and evidence planning.
+ Foster a culture of scientific excellence, continuous improvement, and patient‑centricity across the Field Medical organization.
+ Act as a key connector between the field and internal stakeholders, synthesizing medical insights, customer feedback, and field intelligence to inform medical strategy, evidence planning, and lifecycle initiatives.
**QUALIFICATIONS:**
+ MD or DO, PharmD, PhD with significant pharma and/or medical device experience in the diabetes space.
+ 5+ years of demonstrated experience leading Field Medical Affairs teams, with a proven ability to manage and develop senior‑level medical talent.
+ Strong ability to translate medical and business strategies into clear, actionable field plans, with excellent communication skills.
+ Proven capability to engage and influence KOLs, advisory board members, and key stakeholders, both internally and externally.
+ Established track record of medical affairs leadership, including providing strategic guidance, conducting risk assessments, and supporting evidence‑based decision‑making.

The base pay for this position is $171,300.00 – $342,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
